Hey all, i've been lurking around this site for a few weeks but this is my first post. Anyway, i am 10 w 3 d and have already gained 13 lbs. i am very concerned about the quick weight gain. Has anyone else gained alot so quickly? i don't feel like i am eating a ton, but i've had no energy to excercise at all so i think that might be part of it. i am hoping to still finish the pregnancy at a healthy weight. Anybody else in the same situation?

hey buckeye, Im at about 11 and a half weeks and have gained like 10 pounds already.. when I found out I called my mom and she old me not to worry and my doctor didnt seem concerned either so I guess its alright lol. *shrug* I know people who gained 50lbs during their pregnancy and made it back to their prepregnancy weight in no time. I wouldn't worry about your weigh to much hon. if it starts to get bad talk to your doc :)

Congrats buckeye! you should join us in the june mommies topic! Hey, maybe you have twins! lol... I think I teased heather about this too. :-)

everyone is different. as long as your doc says your okay, then Im sure your fine. Some women gain all their weight at the beginning and some gain it all at the end. For me i didnt gain hardly anything until my third trimest, But I put on about 55 lbs or so, but it was gone within 2 weeks of having my daughter, By my 6 weeks appt i actually weight less then my pre pregnancy. So it just goes to show you your weight gain doesnt really matter as long as your healthy!

No twins (already had a few ultrasounds) just one big, hungry baby! haha! i am not worried about the weight so much for myself, but i don't want to have a 10 lb baby and have complications in delivery either. I figure once i make it to the 2nd tri i will start to excercise again. i've just been too exhausted to do anything now! When are your due dates heather and newly?

We're due June 28th! so who knows if he/she will come early or late...? Could be a July baby!

I am only 7 weeks and have actually gained about 8 lbs already. I think it's water weight and the fact that I am also constipated. Anyway, my first pre-natal appt. is today!!!! Wish me luck!

buckeye74 - November 29

i have been horribly constipated too which might be some of the weight gain. plus i find i need to eat every 2 hrs or so or i feel quesy. i've gained most of my weight in my legs and b___t. wonder if hormones has anything to do with it. My doctor was not at all concerned. she said i can even it out later. Good luck at your 1st appt laura!

Hi Buckeye -no, you're not alone! I gained over 12 lbs the first 12 weeks.......I'm now almost 14 weeks and am still gaining - a lot;) All of my weight is in my belly, and if I don't eat something pretty substantial every 2-3 hours I get really, really dizzy and feel like I'm going to faint (I had alot of dizziness/fainting during the first few weeks of being pregnant). And just to echo what everyone else is saying, you're more than welcome to join us in the June forum:)

glad to hear others are gaining a lot to (but not in an evil woman way-hehe). I will check out the june forum since it seems to be the place to be!

Hey buckeye, I was so sick the first 8 weeks that I actually lost weight. I was very concerned about that. It's funny because we worry when we gain weight quickly and we worry when we lose weight. Being pregnant is hard work :-)

Hey buckeye74, your absolutely right about constipation adding to your weight gain. They talked about excatly that on the Tyra Banks show like 2 days ago lol. I think that's funny. The specialist on the show said weigh yourself then poop and weigh yourself again if you don't believe it's true. Hehe. You will be fine girly, if your doc thinks it's a problem he will step in. Enjoy :) Oh, and eating every 2 hours is perfect, that what my doctor reccommends. Oh, and my dh WANTS a 10lb baby. He is always trying to make me eat more!! What's wrong with him I don't know, well I think he might be afriad to hold a teeny tiny baby. I think 6lbs and up is a good size for a newborn. Anyway, don't fret girl, as long as your baby is healthy :)

Oh the constipation definately can be a culprit. I was only 8 weeks along when I realised I had gained like 9 lbs. But I was horribly constipated all the time. Finally I started eating high fiber cereal every day (nasty stuff) and the next thing I knew I lost 3 lbs. HaHa

hey buckeye just checked in again... my due date is june 16th ish but both me and my little sister were due in june and we boh came in May, may 20th for me and may 19th for my sister so who knows when this baby will come. My step mom was joking that it will come on my birthday or the day before like my sister lol.. I hope not I hope he/she comes after my birthday at least one day after so I can officially say I wasn't a teen mom lol. Im 19 so if baby comes may 21st i'll be 20 and not a teen anymore LOL. oh, also Im not having twins either.. I had a u/s and only saw one baby and heard one heart beat so I have no excuse for gaining so much weight hehe.
