The dr said the heartbeat and size was perfect for my stage-do chances of miscarriage drop after seeing the heartbeat? Please any advice will be appreciated!! Thanks

amy, in most cases you'll be fine, but there are always chances things can happen. Try to relax and enjoy it, congrats!!! (any specific questions that you have just ask) :)

I've heard that the chances of miscarriage go down after the 1st trimester. I am just over 12 weeks with my first too. This is what my book says, but it sure makes you feel a lot better after seeing the heartbeat. Congrats and good luck!

I heard that the chances of miscarriage drops to 5% or less than 5% after seeing the heartbeat. I think this is because they have some positive way of making sure the baby is okay...

I agree with carol, I have heard some docs say that it is less than 1% once you see the heartbeat, but 5% seems more realistic, especially if you visit the loss & miscarriage site & see how many have seen the heartbeat & then had something tragic happen.

I just spoke with my Dr. about this today - he said that when you find a heartbeat your chance of miscarriage goes from 25% down to 4%

Thank you so much for your info!

If you are 9 weeks and have a heartbeat (with no bleeding) the chances of you miscarrying are only 1-2% so don't worry.
