Heartbeat With Doppler

My doctor's office doesn't do ultrasounds until 18-20 weeks, but they are supposedly going to try and hear a heartbeat (presumably with a doppler?) at my next visit. I'll be 7 1/2 weeks a that point. Any one know what the likelihood of being able to hear a heartbeat with a doppler is at 7 weeks?

Heather, your dr should be able to hear your baby's heart beat with a doppler at 7 1/2 weeks. If not then ask for a sonogram, and demand it if they don't want to do one. With a sonogram you will see the heart beat and how big your baby is.....good luck!!

My doctor tried to listen at 10 weeks and she couldn't she said it was to early. She said that you can listen starting the 10-12 weeks.

I was told 10-12 weeks as well. I saw my baby's heartbeat with a transv____al ultrasound at 7 weeks but I think it may be too early to hear by doppler. I won't get to hear mine until 3 more weeks and I will be in my 13th week by then. (God willing!) Good luck

Dopplers are really good but I wouldn't get my hopes up

I just had this conversation with my sister who had a baby last month...the doctor that we both go to only does ultrasounds at 21 weeks but they check the heartbeat with the doppler evertime you have an appt. My sister told me(b/c I was worried about my pregnancy) that the doc told her at 10 weeks you can hear the heartbeat through doppler he doesn't even attempt before the 10th week that way parents don't freak out when they cannot hear the heartbeat. I hope this helps. My sister said also to take note of where they find the heartbeat (like if it's your left lower quadrant) that way you can tell them the next time you go in where it was previously this way you don't panick while they are prodding around your belly looking for the beat.

I just came from the doctor and my 10-week appointment. She couldn't find the HB via the Doppler. I had an U/S at 8 weeks and everything was fine, but now I'm TOTALLY freaked out. She said that it "wasn't uncommon" not to hear it at 10 weeks, but I don't go back in for another two weeks. I don't know how I'm going to wait that long. Anyone else have problems hearing the HB on a Doppler at 10 weeks?
