My af was due wednesday... I took pg test and it was positive! (I am barely 5 weeks pregnant). I am having none of the normal symptoms, but I had intermittant pain in my right ovary all day Friday, and last night and today, pain in my left ovary. Is this normal? Did anyone have this sympton? I am so worried.

I asked about this same symptom at my dr. office. The nurse said it was usually related to the corpus luteum preparing for pregnancy (production of progesterone, etc.) But entirely normal. She said to seek medical attention if the pain became continuous or unbearable.

Thank you for your response Michelle! I have been trying to research this symptom but with no luck. Several times the pain has been very sharp. If it continues, I may see my OBGYN this week. Usually my doc doesn't see patients until 8 weeks. Did your ovary pain eventually go away?

Moobaby....I had pain in both ovaries at 5 weeks. I honestly thought I was having a m/c. I had it one night and part of the next day and then it subsided. I am now going on 8 weeks preganant (tomorrow). It could just be normal but if it continues I would call your dr. Congratulations!

Thanks Jill, I am afraid I will m/c too... hearing from you helps! I think I will call my doc tomorrow just to make sure I am doing all the right things. Good luck and congrats to you too!

Moobaby..My pains were sharp too. I was scared they might indicate an ectopic preg. but again the nurse a__sured me they were normal unless they became nonstop or were accompanied by bleeding. Mine did go away, though now I have cramping that I am also told is normal. It doesn't hurt to call your dr. though. If he/she decides to bring you in it can't hurt and you will probably get more information which I always like. Good Luck.

I had the same thing and my midwife told me that it was ligament pain, which is normal. She said that a lot of women get it due to the uterus pulling on the ligaments as it grows. Of course, you should have it double checked by your md. Unless you get severe cramping or bleeding, it's probably nothing to get too worried about. I know....easier said than done. Trust me-I'm pregnant with my first and everything scared me at first until I realized that worrying wasn't going to help and whatever was going to happen will happen. We only have so much control over what happens to us when we're pregnant. Just try to relax and remember that God will take care of you and your baby! :)

Wow...im sooooo happy i found this. Im about 5 weeks pregnant (i found out really early at 3 1/2 weeks because of a bladder infection) Ive had 2 m/c's and my doc gave me a sonogram last week but didnt really see anything because it was too early. Last week i started getting really bad cramps on my lower left side and it wouldnt go away. i panicked and went to the ER. They basically told me that unless i was bleeding they really cant tell me anything because i was convinced i was having an ectopic preg. I was still too early to see anything but my hcg was at 1440. I have another appt monday so ill be able to find out everything is where its supposed to be. The pain has stopped mostly but comes back if i yell or get stressed about something (new puppy in the house). Just wondering is anyone getting alot of headaches? good luck to you all.
