Oh I just love these threads. Everyone is so nice and friendly and funny. So much better than some of the other forums. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow, Yeah!

Jessica, welcome and congrats!!!! We still haven't decided if we're going to find out the gender...one day I want to and the next day I want the surprise. Have any of you tried the drano test? Think I'm going to. I've tried 2 different chinese prediction websites and one says I'll have a girl and the other says I'll have a boy -so who knows...maybe drano will give me the answer! I'm just starting to get my appet_te back (how have I managed to gain 13 lbs I wonder?!) so I haven't been doing much cooking. Thankfully, DH is a fantastic cook and he really loves trying new recipes. But now, I can't get enough to eat -I mean I'm hungry ALL THE TIME. Anyone else going through this? I'll even wait since I think that maybe I'm not hungry but bored or tired or something, and when I wait I get dizzy and almost faint -so I eat and then feel great afterwards.

Good job Eastcoast!!!!!! Continuing from the last thread.........I have a few names written down but it’s hard when you are trying to come up with name for both a girl or boy, so my dh and I decided that we would hold off till after we found out what the s_x is.......much better that way!! I’m all for an epidural, but I would hate to be confined in my bed afterwards……..oh what to do, oh what to do!!

Has anyone heard of the doc_mentary The Business of Being Born? You can see the trailer at their website (thebusinessofbeingborn.com), it doesn't technically come out till Jan. but it's playing here and there. Anyways, it talks about the movement towards midwives and natural births in the U.S. I really want to see this, it may make up my mind for me but of course its not playing near me.

I'm glad we started a new thread! Eastcoast, my hubby loves to cook too, so we're lucky. Also..as far as appet_te goes.. I am no logner nauseous, but I still don't want to eat anything that isn't fruit or a vegetable! I might eat chicken only if its in small shredded amounts. I went to my sister's for luncha nd she got herself a cheeseburger and fries. I aate two cans of asparagus with garlic and b___ter. Yum. I'm going to be measuring tonight to see f I have put on any weight or gotten more bloated than last week. Are any of you tracking measurements? Also...since I've been pregnant, my urine color is mostly very light...and sometimes almost barely yellow at all. Does that mean something? I read somewhere that dark urine means your dehydrated... ? I'm just curous.

Jessicab3 - November 29

2 cans of asparagus! Yuck. I think asparagus can affect your urine too. I can't remember if its the smell or color, but don't freak out next time you pee, hehe. Oh and a light color is good, it means you are getting plenty of water.

fefer1 - November 29

the darker your urine, the less water you have ... so drink up if it's dark yellow. :) I'm not measuring anything - I try not to think of how big I'm getting/going to get. ;) As for being confined after an epi - it's not THAT bad. Everyone has to wait on you haha...Food, I have a hard time eating anything that looks like meat still too. I am able to eat canned chicken, kind of like tuna - on triscuits. But most meats totally gross me out. I'm getting bored with food though - I need some more variety of what I can eat. Cereal, bagels and soup are getting so blah. Yeah, a new thread is nice. A lot of us are not ready to head over to the second tri yet - it would be lonely over there all by ourselves. :)

See and because the other thread was so long, I completely forgot about the epidural issue! Initially I thought I'd want one for sure, but one of the girls in my pre-natal yoga cla__s was telling me last week that when she had her first baby, her doctor had a student help insert the epidural and it took them almost an hour! Then they noticed that she was leaking fluid from the site and weren't sure if it was fluid from the epi, or spinal fluid -can you freakin' imagine!!!! Luckily it wasn't spinal fluid and she (and the baby) are fine -needless to say, she's not having one this time and her story really scared me! So I just don't know. Jessica, I remember when I hit the 10 week mark it was a mini-milestone for me since I was now in the 'double digit' weeks -I know that probably sounds ridiculous, but it gave me some peace of mind -so an early congrats to you too:) I thought I had heard about The Business of Being Born, but I had thought it was a more graphoc portrayal of the actual birthing process -maybe I'm thinking of something else. I'm actually leaning towards getting a doula (along with my OB), they're fairly popular here and my friends who have had them have raved about how great it was. Hio, when are you going to find out the gender??? Can you find out at a regular u/s? I wish they gave us that option here. Newlywed, that's funny 'cause I'm eating loads and loads of fruits and veggies (right now they're my fav things) and last friday I was trying to explain to hubby that I can only eat chicken if it's shredded up and mixed in something so I don't really know it's there -he looked at me like I was crazy;) Glad to hear I have someone to be crazy with!!!!

buckeye74 - November 29

has anyone read the Jenny McCarty book she has out about her pregnancy? i read it and it was hysterical! i could relate to a lot of what she said. Especially the chapter t_tled "psycho chick". my poor dh!

newlywed0915 - November 29

lol, jessica, you're funny! I really like asparagus! Granted fresh is way better than canned...but seriously its hard to find something I want to eat! I've had a pint of Cold Stone Chocolate Peanut B___ter ice cream in my fridge for almost a month and I've barely touched that! Fefer...how about string cheese, veggie chips, rice..salsa..avocados? Mashed potatoes? I got tired of the soup too and tried some of these alternatives...they're still not substantial...but at least they're different. Do you all "look" more pregnant late at night and early in the morning? My tummy pops more.

Wow...this thread is HOT lately! Hmmm...where to start. I guess the s_x - last time we decided to wait to find out the s_x. I was all into "wanting to look forward to it and focusing on the surprise during labor". Well guess what? I never thought about it once during labor, and to be honest, I was so relieved when she was out, I didn't even think to ask what she was!!! Go figure. Which brings me to the drug issue. My family has a history of fast labors so I decided that I would plan on having a natural birth but I told dh that if I asked for the epi to get it for me and not try to talk me out of it. Sure enough when I hit the hard labor, I was DYING from the pain and BEGGED for the epi. The contractions were so intense I didn't know how I was going to make it through. I was dilating so slowly too (I was at 3 cm for 6 hours) that I thought I had a long way to go and I wouldn't have any energy to push if I didn't get the epi. So, we begged for the epi, but then it turned out that all of a sudden I dilated from 4 - 10 cm in less than an hour. OUCH! By the time the doctor got there to give me the epi it was too late and I was ready to deliver. I didn't really find the delivery pain that bad - the contraction pain was way worse for me. And now that I have done it without drugs, I think I could do it again. All I can say is that it was the most intense thing I have ever had to deal with.

newlywed0915 - November 29

Haha, eastcoast high five! Seriously...thats all we can eat! Oh well...at least it healthy! As far as an epidural goes... I think I might get one because my pain tolerance might not be as great as I think it is. I've been scaring hubby with descriptions of childbirth and told him not to watch me crowning. I'm sorry gals, but while its a beautiful thing... the sight of the "birthing area" is rather disgusting. I know I'm scarred from watching my sister give birth to my nephew. :-) I just don't knwo if I want my husband watching that.....does anyone else feel the same way? Buckeye, I really want to get that Belly Laughs book. Shoppingfortwo also said it was hilarious and I've read a couple excerpts from the book. Hopefully I can pick it up this weekend. JUST as a refresher........where is everyone from?

hioannidis - November 29

eastcoast, my dr. gave me my requisition for my 18 week u/s so I think I will find out then, unless they can tell me next week at my 12 week u/s, but I doubt it. What do you mean they don’t give you the option of finding out the s_x there??? …….. I too am so turned off on meats, I can’t believe how many of you are the same, I thought it was weird that I can’t eat meat, glad to know I’m not the only one!! Sometimes I try to eat meat thinking that I can, and as soon as it touches my lips I’m like…get it away from me.

Jessicab3 - November 29

I can remember the first time I gave birth and they had me in the stirrups with the mirror angled so I could see and I thought "Is that really me? When did my hoo ha get so huge? and, Maybe I should of trimmed up some?" Hubby didn't care though he was too emotional. He won't be much help if I go natural, but my midwife will be there the whole time to support me and I have 2 sisters that will help if I need it.

Jessicab3 - November 29

I'm from Nebraska and yes I'm crazy Cornhusker. I'm guessing Buckeye is from Ohio?? hehe

Jessicab3 - November 29

Deb, way to go! I had my epidurals at 4cm and went to 10cm in 2 hours each time. And they say epidurals usually slow labor down. So I'm thinking I can do it this time without too.
