i've had a bit of spotting 2 weeks back, nothing bright red but something like a diluted chocolate milk. my first US showed the egg to be 2mm in size, had another one yesterday and it 2as 6 mm, the doc said he expected to see the heartbeat then but we didn't see anything. he did say that it could be so faint that the equipment cannot pick it up yet so has scheduled another US next week... i'm going crazy with worry!!! it's our first and it wasn't planned so i was partying adn smoking and drinking until the 4th week!

I'm not going to say don't worry because that would be impossible, but most women see the babies heartbeat at 6-8 weeks. So you are right at the beginning of this. I would just try to relax, it isn't good for the baby for you to be stressed. Everything might be fine, it isn't unusual what you are going through right now. Plus, lots of women don't know that they are pregnant for the first month and drink and smoke( I did it with my son and he is just fine). Good luck, hopefully everything is just fine, keep us all posted.

Don't worry about the smoking and the drinking. I did that too until I found out I was pg. Now I'm 12 weeks tomorrow. I had an u/s at 10 weeks and 5 days and saw a really clear picture of the baby and a heart beat. BTW, my 6 week u/s we couldn't see a heartbeat either, it's just too small. My Dr. said that everyone does "bad" stuff before they know they're pg and it DOESN'T cause miscarriage. Take care and good luck!

Normally you can not hear the heart until you are 10 to 12 weeks so dont worry. Sometimes the doctors can even be wrong and alittle off with dates and how far along you are so try not to worry. It is probable just to soon. The baby has a heart beat within the first month of being pregnant but can not be heard until 10 to 12 weeks. Good luck!
