How important are prenatal vitamins? I didn't take them with my first pregnancy, and nothing went wrong. I have to say though, that i've noticed, that women who take the vitamins, usually have babies born with jaundice, and the ones who didn't take them, their babies didn't. My daughter wasn't born with jaundice. I'm pregant with my 2nd child, and I'm not really sure if I should or should not take them.

i think they are very beneficial. i don't think my mom took them with me and I had jaundice, so I'm not sure there is a connection there. But your body needs the vitamins SO badly because it's nearly impossible to get enough in just the food you eat - and adding folic acid (in the vitamins) to your diet has been proven to prevent birth defects. I think you can't go wrong taking them - if you are really concerned, talk to your doctor about what kind is best. Good luck!
