What is the risk of miscarriage in the first trimester? I have heard that it can be very common and was just wondering.

Hi Carrie! Only about 10-15% of pregnancies end up in miscarriage, but now doctors are also including the miscarriages that women don't even recognize and mistake for a period, so they say about 20%!! I've been doing my reading because I know exactly where you're coming from, I'm six weeks and freaked out about it too!!! I just try to stay positive!!

1 out of 3 women miscary. A lot of times they don't even know that it has happened. I have miscarried at 8 weeks and i am now 11 1/2 weeks and everything is looking great. I am sure you will be fine

once you hear the heartbeat, or even see it on u/s, your chances of m/c go down ALOT! to only about 2-3% iam 10 weeks 6 days and worry to, even though i hear my baby at home everyday, it's normal, and hormonal to worry, lol. good luck:)

michelle, are you the same michelle that had the slow rising HCG #'s? if so, how is your pregnancy going?

Actually, the chances get lower with every week. Initially, they are 75% before you even know your pregnant. By 6 weeks its about 5%. My source... http://www.pregnancyloss.info/statistics.htm This helped put my mind at ease.

Thank you girls for all of your answers. The last thing I will want to do when we finally conceive is to worry and cause undue stress. These answers actually helped a lot.
