Sharp Pain On One Side

I have a question for all. I'm just a little over 4 weeks pregnant. For the past 4-5 days whenever I sneeze, cough, ect, I have this sharp pain in my lower right abdomen (around where I think my ovaries is). I've also had what feels like period cramps off and on since a few days before we found out I was pregnant. From what I've read on other posts, that seems fairly common. What worries me is since last night the pain on my right side has been constant. Sometimes just a dull ache, then others a sharp pain. The first thing that comes into my head is an ectopic pregnancy. I called my doctor and they said they didn't think it sounded like that, but if it became unbearable, to go to the ER. Not very reassuring. I just wish I could have an ultrasound done, so I would know my baby's in the right place. Am I just being paranoid? Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Thanks.

Nikki, sorry, i don't really have an answer for you, but i did have a friend who was having sharp pains on one side and it turned out to be some kind of cyst, and not harmful to the baby at all. I am about as far along as you and have some very mild pains on the right side, nothing major though.

I had the same thing with my first pregnancy. Sharp pains on one side. The Dr. did an internal ultra sound and found there was a cyst. He said the cyst that forms is VERY normal and actually helps boost progestron levels and will go away a few months into pregnancy. So, that COULD be what your feeling. If the pain gets worse I would get checked out, if nothing else, just for peace of mind!
