Spotting At 6 Weeks Scared

I have a little bit of brown spotting on my underwear this morning. Not much cramping just the normal twinges. I called the doctor and she said to relax and take it easy because alot of women spot in early pregnancy but it could be the start of a m/c if I start to experience heavy red bleeding and severe cramping. We are leaving on a trip for Thanksgiving tomorrow and the doctor said to go ahead and go still, have a good time and relax and we will do an u/s when I get back. I am so scared, I've never been pregnant before so I don't know what a m/c would feel like. Did anyone who has m/c start out with very slight brown spotting?

Hi Cindy: First of all I know the torment you are going through. My brown spotting led to my miscarriage in June. However, I am pregnant again, and just started spotting again. Went in for an ultrasound and baby looks perfect with a heartbeat of 136! So every pregnancy is totally different, and spotting doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage. If you have bad cramps or lots of lower back pain, I'd call the doctor again. And definitely have them give you an ultrasound when you get back from your trip. But lots of women spot throughout their pregnancies, especially in the first trimester, and the babies are fine! So try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done! Take care and let me know how things go for you. xxoo

Thanks alot Kim, I'm starting to calm down a little. I"m going to take it easy today. My husband is going to leave work early and help me pack and clean the house for our trip. Just because I'm spotting doesn't mean that I am m/c for sure. It's just so scary.

Oh I know it is. You can't help but worry - any kind of bleeding, however normal it might be, is scary when you're pregnant! You're right - just spotting on it's own tells you very little and is not indicative of miscarriage. I know once you get to see your little bean by ultrasound you'll feel so much better! Hang in there! Relax and enjoy your vacation. :-)
