U S At 5 Weeks

I had an u/s done today, and it showed my dd to be Dec 31st and that im 5 weeks. My concern is that all there was was a sac, at least that the Dr could see. Is that normal in such an early pregnancy??? I was told he expected it, but I dont know if he's just trying to sugarcoat worry, or whatever. He is doing another U/S on the 16th.....

Yes it's normal, it is just because the u/s was too early to see anything more. The book "Your Pregnancy week by week" by Curtis and Schuler is one I love. It has a little illustration of how big your baby is, actual size and a b__wn up version. At five weeks the baby is really only 3 weeks and too small to see. It isn't until week 6 something starts taking more shape, then it grows and grows. u/s is usually done at week 8 -- most doc's won't even seen you until then. Congratulations. How do you know it is a girl already?

oh, well maybe it is a girl! Do you know what BFP stands for?I keep trying to figure that one out. I guess due date made more sense if I reread it!

It is very normal that he would only see a sac, please dont worry. I went for my first u's today and I am 6 weeks, and he told me we may not see anything yet. We did see the heartbeat, but I promise you, 5 weeks is really early to see much of anything besides the sac.

BFP stands for big fat positive (test results)
