does anyone know how far along you have to be to see the baby on an abdominal u/s, not a transva___al one?

Colleen - I head at least 8 weeks. You have to be 10-12 before they can find the baby's heatbeat on doppler.. so maybe it's the same with ultrasound? I have heard a lot of things about this.

I went yesterday for my 10w2d checkup and we couldn't hear the heartbeat on the doppler so my doctor did a regular u/s & we could see the baby & hear the heartbeat fine on that. The picture wasn't as clear as it was when I had the v____al u/s at 8w2d, but you could definitely tell it was a little baby in there.

I had my first abdominal u/s at 7w4d and we could see things fine. Drink some water before that if you want to improve visibility.
