Hi, I just got my BFP and I was wondering when the normal time to have the first ultrasound is. Thanks in advance for the replies!

do you think you know when you concieved? I think the best thing to do overall is call your OBGYN tomorrow and tell them you'd like to confirm a pregnancy. They'll take blood from you and then call you back in a few days to take more blood. (The numbers go up if you're pregnant) And they can do an U/S but if it's too early, you won't notice anything just yet. LIke when I went, I was only in myh 4th week, and we couldn't see anything except the endometrium lining thickening - but I went again on my 7th week and saw the little heartbeat!!! Cheers to a healthy pregnancy for you!

Every practice is different as far as ultrasounds go. My old hospital (I just moved a couple of weeks ago) routinely does u/s at 10-12 weeks and then again at 18-24 weeks. This new one only does the 18-24 week u/s. Congratulations!

Hi Deb, I had an U/S on Friday at exactly 7 weeks, This was because I had a M/C in July. I saw a faint heartbeat and go back in 4 weeks - I have been told this is routine as the U/S at 7 weeks is very early. Congrats and all the best.

I am having mine today, at 7 weeks and 2 days. My dr. usually does the first u/s at 8 weeks, but is going to be on vacation next week.

My 1st u/s was during my 6th wk.... Every Dr. is diff. I would also suggest you contact your OB to find out.

Thanks everyone! I called my doctor the day I found out I was pregnant (last Wed.) and they couldn't get me in until Nov. 21. We want to break the news to our families on Christmas, but I was hoping I would be able to have an ultrasound before I did that. My sister made it through her first trimester without an ultrasound and then told everyone on a Sunday. On Tuesday she went for an ultrasound and there was no baby. I don't want to have to go through that so I want to make sure the little one is OK before we spread the news.

for both of my pregnancies it was routein to get an ultrasound at the 8 week mark... then again at 20ish weeks ( although with this, my 2nd, I get a bonus one at 12 weeks)

My first doc's appointment is on 11-21 as well!! I just got my BFP yesterday, so I'm four weeks 2 days along....I did an edd calculator and it says I'm due July 12...my seven year old's birthday is on July 06!!

I'm 5 1/2 weeks today and my doctor told me to come in for an ultrasound this Thursday. From what I've researched, that's probably too early to tell anything, but he has the numbers from my blood test and he's the boss! Brenda

Usually they tell you b/w 6-8 weeks to make sure that theres a hb and its in the right spot. i went in at 6weeks. we did see a faint hb. i wish i would've waiting alittle bit longer b/c there wasn't much to see. i have one at 12weeks. which is still another 2 weeks away. Good luck.
