The milk can be frozen for three months, that I know for sure, and maybe even longer. You really need to ask a lactation consultant. That is where I got my information. The milk should be taken from the freezer to be put in the fridge to defrost. Never to be left at room temp. You can also put frozen milk in a cup with hot water to defrost it faster. Just make sure it is not too hot to scald the milk. Once it is defrosted in fridge, it is good for only 24 hours. If you defrost it in warm to hot water, it should be used within 2 hours since it has already been warmed up. Usually it takes 24 hours to defrost milk from the freezer to the fridge. Hope that helps. I have had experience with this a lot and have been advised by several lactation consultants, but just like doctors, they can have diffirent opinions. Good luck.

In the book "what to expect the 1st year, it says that you can store the milk in your regular freezer for 3 months. But if you have a seperate freezer (one that freezes at 0 degrees or less) it said that you could freeze for 6 months or more.
