Antibiotics And Pregnancy

My lmd is 17 Jan.I had a severe allergy problem recently and after a blood test the doctor told me that I might have sinus infection. So before taking my antibiotics (10 days) I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. So I went ahead with the medicine. Today I am 3 days late and took pregnancy test twice and it has a faint positive. We wanted baby so much that I should be happy but I am so scared now as I read that the antibiotics could cause harm to fetus. Did anyone had this problem and what is the outcome?Am I pregnant? Any advise as I feel like I am going crazy.

I am in the exact same situation as you. I also had sinus infection, and ear infection and was given an antibiotic and a pain killer. I took both of the medicines before finding out I was pregnant. My doctor told me not to worry about it, but I can't help but think about it.

they say that even doing cocaine or heroin that early in the pregnancy is unlikely to cause harm so i dont think the medication would have...i would ask a doctor though just to be sure...congratulations!!!

I found out a few days ago that I am pregnant. Last Monday (approx. 3 weeks pregnant), I went to the clinic w/a bad sore throat. They said I had bad strep. She said they'd give me a shot (penicillin). I told her I was ttc, and she said this will NOT harm anything; and as a matter of fact, actual pregnant women are allowed to have this shot. I had a relapse 2 days later, so she prescribed some Amoxicillin.... which she also said was safe for pregnancy. So I wouldn't worry about the antibiotics. Good luck!

I just got over a nasty sinus infection as well, I'm 21 weeks. The doctor put me on amoxicillin & advised it is totally fine to take during pregnancy. I also must have asked the pharmacist the same thing about a million times, & again he also told many MANY women take antibiotics during pregnancy, as long as it's been OK'd by you doctor I wouldn't worry.
