If you can, switch to Tylenol Pm, which contains less medicine than Benadryl, unless you need the other benefits of it. With my doctors approval, in my 3rd trimester, I used it about every 4-5 days, when the lack of sleep just got to be unbearable. :o)

I took Benadryl every night during my first pregnancy, with no adverse effects. I've taken it frequently during this pregnancy, with my doctor's knowledge.

I also took Benadryl almost every night while I was pregnant. My doctor told me it was safe. I now have a beautiful healthy baby with no adverse effects. I took 50mg (2 capsules). It really helped with insomnia and pregnancy-induced itchy skin.

Benadryl caused fetal techycardia in my baby at 33 weeks. Her heart rate was up to 180 bpm. I was taking one a night.

tylenol pm has exactly 25mg of benedryl in one tablet, also called dyphenhydramine, along with 500mg of tylenol. One capsule of benedryl also contains 25 mg of the drug. So I wouldn't suggest taking tylenol pm unless you have any pain because you would just be adding an unnecessary drug. As far as how often is too often I'm not sure, ask your dr.
