I am 29 and thinking about having a baby, but my partner is MUCH MUCH older than me. Are there really tremendous risks involved with a man over 50 having a baby???

My uncle is much older then my aunt and he had his first when he was 50 then another 3 years later. They where both very health and very loved. By 50 I think guys are calmed down alot and I think that they will enjoy the kids more. At least my uncle did. He was great. I think that it is the womens age that doctors tend to be conserned about but even then older women have healthy babys too. Hope that helped some. Take care.

I have never heard of any risks involving an older man fathering a baby. Only with older women because their egg supply diminishes and the body prepares for menopause. Women are born with all of their eggs that will last throughout their life, but men continue to produce sperm forever. There are certain things that can affect a man's sperm, though, like alcoholism, smoking, etc. As long as your partner is healthy I say go for it!

My dad was 55 when I was born, so yes, it's possible. :0)
