Does the baby always drop before labour starts in first pregnancies? Can I go in to labour even if the baby is still high?

Your first baby usually does not drop until right before birth. The baby HAS to drop to be born, but you could go into labor BEFORE the baby actually drops.

I have read that it is with subsequent pregnancies, not your first that the baby may not drop until after labor. While I'm sure it is still possible to go into labor for the first time without the baby dropping, it is less likely. In a first pregnancy, the baby usually drops a few weeks before delivery. You should call your doctors office and ask. That is what they are there for, I'm sure they get hormone driven pregnant women asking all types of questions.

Yes, like tiffiny said, your baby has to drop to be born. Some may drop as soon as their water breaks & some may drop soon after labor. Basically, your baby will be dropped eventually.
