Is This Dangerous If I Am Pregnant

I have an unusual situation. A few months ago I started losing vision in one eye. I went to an optometrist and he told me that I was the youngest person he had ever seen with a cataract. I had to wait a long time to get an appt with an opthalmologist. I strongly suspect that I am pregnant but have not gotten a posotive test yet. I have heard that the drops they use to dilate your eyes shouldn't be used if you are pregnant. Of course I will ask the doctor when I get there but I was wondering if anyone else knew. Since most of his patients are way past menopause it might not be a common question for him. I couldn't find much on the internet. Thanks!

Hello Jennifer, I don't know if this is any help, but I'd wait til you know if you're pregnant before taking action. I've read that the cornea of your eyes actually swell during pregnancy, it can affect your vision, particularly night vision. Women who wear contacts are advised to go back to using gla__ses for the term of the pregnancy.

Hi Kaz, the point of the visit is to find out about having the cataract removed. Which freaks me out at the thought of someone operating on my eye, bllaaahhh. I probably wouldn't be able to have the surgery if I were pregnant anyway. My eyes did get worse during my first pregnancy so you are right they do change. I actually started spotting a little while ago so maybe I don't need to worry about it. :0(
