Hi anyone, I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant, am waiting for my scan which is not until the 14 March and I feel constantly nauseous. I am not a big water drinker, have been trying hard but worry that I am not looking after myself enough which may affect the baby. Would love to hear from other first time mums.........

I had severe nausea and vomiting in my first trimester. I am not a big water drinker either. I ended up having to go to the hospital at 9 weeks and get an I-V because I got so dehydrated. I am now 19 weeks and am out of the nausea stage. Everything seems to be going along just fine. Most doctors and nurses have told me that although it is important to keep up drinking/nutrition, the baby will take what it needs from you first, so everything should be just fine...

Thanks firsttimemom7, it is comforting to know how other moms are coping. When are you due?

I am due on July 22...I get to hear a heartbeat tomorrow. Everytime I go to the doctor to get a check up I get nervous. I'm always afraid I won't hear the heartbeat....I think thats normal though

Well hello to you both, I am 13 weeks today...excited and vomiting more today then ever before...hoping it all calms down soon. Although it makes me happy because its a comforting feeling and I feel as though if my symptoms are still here then I am good. So hopefully all goes well, especially since I pa__sed the first trimester mark and headed into second.

I am 11 weeks now - it seems to be going so slowly though! I have to wait another week and a half before my scan. How exciting - to hear a heartbeat - hope all went well firsttimemom7. It is really comforting to hear from others - although I feel somewhat lucky now that I have't yet been vomiting but feel constantly nauseous. 13 weeks and still vomiting! Hopefully it will pa__s very soon for you nerdy_girl. I am looking forward to pa__sing my first trimester date, I am still nervou that things will go wrong.

I am also a first time mom and was nauseous for the first 17 weeks of pregnancy. If you're not a big water drinker try some crystal light and also try some ginger ale or ginger tea the ginger will help with the nausea. I'm now 22 weeks and I feel great.

You really need to drink... but I guess it doesn't have to be water all the time. Anything without caffeine will help to keep you hydrated. Also, if you drink and eat separately, that might help keep mealtime nausea down... it worked for me.

i have found that carbonated water helped alot when i had m/s and i still drink it because it makes it easier for me to get the water i need

I feel like all the liquids I drink just sit in my stomach! Does anyone else feel like they are not digesting the way they use to? I am only six weeks pregnant and can not eat as much in one sitting as I use to....not that I am complaining, I just wonder if this is something other people are experiencing.

I'm with Javidsgirl on the carbonation! That is the ONLY thing that kept me from tossing my cookies before, during and after a meal. It just made me feel better in general. Also, when my nausea started in, I would get extremely dizzy. I would drink something with some carbonation and lay down for a minute in the floor of my office at work, and it would eventually pa__s. Hope that helps! Oh yeah, I know this may seem silly but deep breaths really do help too.

Sometimes you don't ever get pa__sed first trimester symptoms and they occur all pregnancy...I hope thats not the case for me... and I can't get past the taste of ginger ale, that makes me throw up lol
