I am so scared about going into labor. I wake up at night and can't go back to sleep b/c all I can think about is that day and what is going to happen and how it's going to feel. I don't want to do it. I am so scared. I hear different stories from everyone and I know every labor is different but all I can think is what if mine is worse or whatever. Anyone else this afraid???

I am more scared of labour then of anything else...people always says to me "labour will be OK, it's looking after the baby you should be more scared about", no. Not for me, it's the pain.

I think about that too!! The only thing I keep telling myself is that so many women go through this and if everyone can do it I can too!! and I tell myself to suck it up and that I can do it. Of course I tell myself this in my head. It sort of gives me courage. Try not to worry about it

Wait until you are like me - most mom's already had their babies and I am still waiting to have mine - you will no longer be scared of it. I was terrified, but now I am so uncomfortable that I want the pain, i want to feel those contractions, I want to go into labor!

Its no picnic but for me the worst i think was the internals, some words of advice ask them to be gentle b4 they do it cause my dr was as rough as guts and that has me scarred more than the birth and the labour to be honest. They seemed like a breeze in comparison.

Labor hurts like nothing else on this earth, BUT don't forget you'll be surrounded by health proffessionals the whole time. There's lots of pain relief available should it get too much for you. I tried to get through it without relief, but ended up having everything. I said I never wanted to do it again, but now my daughter is 5 weeks old and I'm already thinking, "Yeah, I could do it once more." :) I'm having an epidural as soon as possible next time though! It's bad, but you'll get through it and have a wonderful (if exhausting!) new baby at the end of it. Good luck to all of you! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I know I have to start my internal exams next week and I have heard that it hurts so I am not looking forward to that either. I know it will be fine but I just get scared.

I just had my first baby 2 mos ago and by the end of the pregnancy I was so miserable and uncomfortable I could not wait for labor. I had also had a thrombosed hemhoroid surgically removed at 33 weeks after 5 days of excruciating pain, not being able to move or walk so I figured at least labor would be shorter than that. I was 6 days late when I finally went into labor, and I did not have any drugs at all. It was my intention to not have any drugs, but believe me, I begged for them once labor really kicked in. I went too fast for drugs to have worked at that point and luckily I did not get any. The worst part of the labor is actually when I had the urge to push finally and the nurse said not to , I had to wait a few more contractions to be complete. That was horrible. The pain was the most intense pain ever, especially when the contractions came one after the other. But if you breathe, keep your concentration on controlling the pain instead of it controlling you, listen to the nurses and doctors, and remember it will end, it is not that bad. I will do it again with no drugs. Just when you get to the point where you think you cannot bear that much pain, it actually does not get any worse than that, it stays the same as far as intensity. Pushing was the easiest, most painless part, I thought. Whichever way you decide to go, the kid has to come out sometime and it is so worth it! Good luck!!

I just posted the same fear on Third Trimester section. I have a weak stomache and hate pain. I'm scared out of my mind. I think about it every day.

Im on my 7th month and know that sooner or later the time will come...and baby will come...don't know much about what kind of medicaton to use...My sister just had a baby and she used (epadorial). And said I should get it but I've so much so much bad stuff about it!!!so i don't know what i'll be using!.for a moment I thought I was the only one to be scared but was wrong...

I have not had a baby yet but although i'm sure it will hurt it is all worthit at the end when you get your baby and people do it again and again so it is a pain i'm sure you will forget. Try not to think too much about it until it actually happens and when it does i'm sure you will be fine. GOOD LUCK
