Morning Sickness And Work

I don't know what to do. I don't want to take a bunch of time off of work, but I'm in the bathroom puking more than I'm working. It's not like hubby and I are in desperate need of the money, but I also don't want to get fired. I feel bad for not being able to do my job efficiently and quilty for feeling like a wuss. Not only that, but sitting at a desk all day, trying to be polite on the phone when all I want to do is vomit and cry is not the best environment for me and baby. It's just an icky situation all around. Has anyone been in this position? What did you do? My doctor said I'm not bad enough to go on meds. Help. I don't have any idea what to do here.

Hi Meadra. Do you have the flexibility to go part-time? At least for a while? I haven't had any morning sickness but I can hardly stay awake during the day. I find myself wanting to fall asleep right on my desk. Maybe talk to your boss, see if there is something you can do temporarily until you get to feeling your self again. Good uck!

Ask your doc to give you a prescription of Zyrtec. It's safe and helps with morning sickness. Are you on prenatal pills. Those might be making you really sick to. Mine did and I had to stop taking them. Try to hang in there. It will go away. How far along are you? At least you're at a desk job. So am I so it made it a little easier but I know how ya feel. The emotions will get better too. You sound like me 6 weeks ago. I'm at 12 wks and no sickness anymore and I actually don't even feel pregnant anymore. It's like I had this 6 week flu! I have to remind myself sometimes as I don't have a tummy yet either. Hang in there!!!!

I'm almost at 13 weeks and the morning sickness feels worse than it did 6 weeks ago! Maybe I have a bug altogether! Thank s for the advice. i think maybe I'll try the part time thing. I don't know, though. I'm the manager in my office so no one else can do my job when I'm gone. I'll let you know what happens.

You should be out of the woods in a couple weeks. I remember feeling worse and worse then one day I felt human. I feel so bad for you. BTW I had a girl. I tried not to call in sick so I could save my time for after she was born. Hang in WILL get better. Keep forcing yourself to eat small things as the day goes on. Take your prenatals at bedtime.

I feel your pain... I was sick until about the 16th week. Each day felt worse than the last. I wonder now how I even made it through the work day or the commute home. My boss kept reminding me that there was no reason why I shouldn't be maintaining 40 hours/week.... I even lost 5 pounds, then one day it just ended. I still get a bout here or there, but very mild. Just hang in there and do what's best for you and your baby, even if it means leaving early/calling in sick. Also, when I was at my desk, sucking on mints really helped!
