This is my first pregnancy and I am about 5 weeks pregnant. Is it normal to have a lot of gas and bloating during this first trimester? Also, I have some cramping (it's from the gas) - is this normal?

Hi Joy. You poor thing, I know just what you are feeling. Yes the bloating and gas are normal. I had it so bad I was sick! I still have it and I am 27 weeks. Congrats on the baby.

I had the same thing at 5 weeks. Lots of gas and then the nausea set in. I had cramping too. It's normal. Good luck!

Yes!! Gas pains are so painful it was making me scared! But I read that the baby is completely safe from this and probably enjoying the noises going on inside! I am 8 weeks, bloated, ga__sy, and constipated! I always feel like I need to have a bm, then nothing happens!! Good luck to all of you!

Oh the gas!! Lovely isn't it?? With my first son, it was like a d__n machine gun in my pants! I'd be walking in the grocery store and if my body wanted to fart, there was NOTHING I could do about it. It was so embara__sing!! Mine went away early, I hope you have the same luck!! :o)

I've got the cramps and the gas too, very normal. I had cramps for the entire first trimester when I was pregnant with my son. Just a side note: the cramps should be mild to moderate, not severe. Congratulations & enjoy your pregnancy, :o)
