Pregnant On The Pill

I'm on the pill and you're not suppose to get pregnant while on it, but I was wondering if there is a possibility that I could? I continued taking the pill cause I'm not sure but if I am than could that be harmful? I don't want to stop to see if my period comes but I wouldn't want to continue if it could be harmful.

If you take the pill each day at the same time then the pill is almost 100% effective. If you skip or do not take it at the same time then yes the chance increases. If you only have a few days of them before your inactive pills then continue as usual. You could always get a home pregnancy test and check. The new one that is advertised is supposed to pick up the pregnancy hormone faster than others. (I think it is EPT but I am not positive)

But what will happen if I am pregnant but I decide to wait till the end of my pills to see if my period comes, what will happen to me if I continue on the pill?

Jessica, you need to be a bit clearer about what it is you're asking. Have you skipped a pill? Is this why you think you're pregnant?

Lets just say I am, I don't know, but let's just say I am, I am still taking the pill because I don't know,(the last thing I need is to stop taking the pill because of this hunch and winde up getting pregnant because I got off of it) could that be harmful?

Well, I don't know much on the subject, but let's just say that if you are pregnant, you're certainly much better off not taking the pill. You don't necessarily have to risk pregnancy if you stop the pill, however, because there is an ingenious invention called the condom (yeah, I know, I'm a smart a__s, but c'mon one month using condoms won't kill you). If, on the other hand, you have been completely faithful taking your pill, I'd just continue taking it. It's not unheard of to become pregnant while on the pill (after all, it's not 100% effective, just 98% or so), but if you've been taking it failthfully, then it's highly unlikely that you're pregnant - more likely you're just paranoid.

I was on the pill when I got preg w/ my daughter. then I didnt know it but I had a hormonal imbalance. I had never missed a pill. 20 years old. Now 8 years later Im preg and was put on the pill awhile to help me concieve. So that 2 or 3 % is really a possibilty. When a did get preg that first time I had the flu about a week earlier and had diaherria and the doc said that could have the reason.

Just get a home pregnancy test and use protection in the meantime and restart your pills next month. Or better yet, call your doctor's office and explain the situation and get their opinion.

I am with lynne, take a hpt or call and consult the doc. It is better to go ahead and find out.

I got pregnant on the pill. I was never late taking it and never missed a day. Talk to your doctor and get checked!
