Are strong kicks any indicatons of having a baby with down's. I read somewhere that babys with downs can kick very hard.

I would not use that to determine if a baby has down's or not. There are other ways. I think you would also have to be high risk to worry.Ultrasounds exams help to indicate it you have a baby with down.If the doc suspect then they will do futher tests. Where did you read that cause I thought it would be the opposite.

I heard that down's babies were very sluggish in the womb. I thought strong kicks were just a good indication that the baby was strong and healthy? Is that wrong? My baby kicks me very hard sometimes.

All the test so far seem normal but I have heard of people having negative test for downs and their child was born with down's. Then I read about the hard kicks so now I am a little scared. I was not offered a amnio.

I think you have it the opposite cause like Lissi I heard they are sluggish in the womb. Other normal babies seem to be more active and stronger. Where did you read that ? I would check with the doc if I was you. All the best.

I have also heard of false positives and not false negatives. Never heard of any false negatives. That is new to me !

I read this information on the baby center forum. I just pray for a healthy baby. Thanks everyone ... I do feel a little bit better. My baby does move a lot and the doctor said it was a good sign of a growing baby. I guess I am just reading other peoples stories to much.

Erica have you had your Ultrasounds. There are many ways to detect these problems in ultrasounds. Also the rate the baby is growing, moving etc does help the doc. I would not worry if your doc has not found anything. That was one of my fears as well until my doc (while smiling at me) reasurred me that everything was ok. God answers prayers and I am sure he is going to answer yours. All the best !!

Yes, I have had 3 u/s and my afp came back normal. They also did a test when I was 12 weeks called a nuchal scan and blood work and they all came back fine. I pray we all have healthy baby's!!!!

Erica, I don't know the source of your info, but I looked it up in 2 major medical databases and no complications have been attributed to fetal hyperactivity, certainly no downs co-relation. The reason for it also seems unclear. On a third one I read that if this hyperactivity occurs "suddenly" you should call your doctor, but I gather this is not the case with you. Good luck!
