I was told by a coworker that my feet are swelling because I drink a soda with my lunch and eat sweets. Of course I am eating sweets. people are throwing me parties all the time. Am I causing the swelling in my feet?

it really depends on your body chemistry. at anyrate, it's nothing to feel guilty about. different foods cause different issues for different women. for instance, salt makes me swell and eggs give me heartburn, now that i've figured it out i can watch what i eat. i must admit, sometimes i dont care and i'll eat half a bag of pretzels and turn into a parade float. :o) it doesn't hurt the baby. your co-worker cannot tell what foods are giving you problems just by looking at you. tell miss helpful to mind her business.

Not at all. It's preferable you drink water, but swelling is a normal part of pregnancy and is caused by this additional blood and fluids. The extra retention of fluids is needed to soften up tissues and joints in preparation for birth especially in the pelvic area. You can help your feet somewhat by having them elevated, leg ma__sage, drink water (not soda), decrease salt intake and avoid walking out in high temperatures...... good luck
