I am really worried, and also thinking of an abortion, since I read soo much on the internet about the negative effects of alchohol on the fetus. I had wine on the 13th and the 14th day after conception. My husband is very unhappy about my decision, and I am scared to have a baby with mental defects. Please advice ?

I can understand how you are concerned after drinking alcohol. However there are people who drink, smoke and even take drugs all the way through their pregnancy and have a perfectly healthy baby. I dont know where you live but here in the UK there have been discussions over the past few months concerning this and there actually is nothing the prove that alcohol has any affect on how a baby develops. Of course it is strongly advised not to have more that 1 unit per week and i realy thisnk you are overreacting. howe much wine did you drink??

The warnings about fetal alcohol damage are directed at those who drink to excess throughout their pregnancy. An ounce or two at 14dpo is not going to affect the outcome, Please overcome your fears and make peace with your husband. Good luck!

Two days after conception the embryo hasnt even attached to your uterine wall. Alcohol would not effect the embryo at all. I understand your fears but you are honestly over reacting. You have nothing to worry about. No one knows how much alcohol is too much during pregnancy. Again I highly doubt that anything is wrong with your baby due to the wine. GL!!

Honey~ many many women have drinks before they even know they are pregnant. Many women have drinks after they know they are pregnant. An embryo at 13-14 days is fairly reszilent and most likey would not be effected by drinking. Having an abortion is a VERy serious choice! Ultimatley yours to make, if you are concidering this lifechanging alternative soley on the fear of mental issues with the baby you IMO would be doing yoursef your unborn baby and your Husband a diservice. Keep faith that this pregnancy is a gift, your baby was meant for you and PLEASE do not make ant radical decisions based on drinking wine so early on. I am in a similar situation but with pain medication so I completely know the fear you are having! IMO just the fact that you are SOOO concerned about the health of your baby , speaks volumes about what kind of Mommy you will be :). Take a deep breath, everything is gonna be okay!!!! GODSPEED! give your Hubby a hug, he sounds like a good guy!

They actually encourage drinking a gla__s of red wine each day during pregnancy in Europe. Everything should be just fine.
