Trying For Baby

My husband and I have been TTC for a year in December. My period is not regular, it hasn't been since I went off birth control. Does anyone have any suggestions. I tried the Basil Body Temp. and it hasn't helped. I really want a baby badly. The doctor told me to try for another 6 months to figure out when I am ovulating. Do ovulation tests work? And how do they work? And does anyone have any tips on what else we can to to get pregnant?

I was in your shoes, about four months ago. I am know four months pregnat. I had iregular periods. I was also over weight. I lost about 50 pounds, and my periods came monthly. I started seeing my doctor, to see why I wasn't getting pregnat, I even uesd ovulating kits, they all came back saying I was ovulating. Well to find out I was only ovulating like every other month. I was put on a pill to help me get pregnat. I was on it for about 4 months. I am know 4 months pregnat. Maybe you should ask your doctor to put you on something, they took boold test on me monthly, they was checking my hcg levels. Mine where always low. They was looking for some kind on hormone. Good luck, and let me know how things are going for you.

I've had no weight gain or loss and I'm not overweight for my size. My doctor told me to try for another 6 months, then we'll start testing and stuff. I normally skip my period every other month. Like i skipped it last month and i'm starting to feel like i'm going to start my period again. It's almost time, but my period signs are like pregancy symptoms. Fatigue, tender swolen b___sts, a missed period, frequent urination (that's normal, I have a small bladder). And this time I have a little constipation. I'm tired of taking prengancy tests and them coming back negative. There's a possibility I could be, as normal. But I'm just tire of seeing those negative results.

I am in somewhat of the same situation now. I took 2 of the depo shots over a year ago. It should have been out of my system last August. After the shot, I was put back on birth control for about 6 months. The whole time I was taking the shot I never had a period. Now I never know when I'm going to get it. I started having a period every three or four weeks and bled for two weeks straight. Now they come every 2 to 3 weeks and are mostly back to normal. The only problem is my husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I don't even know if I'm ovulating or not. We've been trying for about 6 months with no luck. I'm going to my doctor next month to see about getting my periods back to normal so we'll see how it goes. Good luck with your situation and if you come up with any ideas let me know.

It took me over a year to get pregnant with my first i was doing all the chart stuff and working out my ovulation, quite frankly i dont think it helps but i think it just stresses you out. Finally i gave in and just DTD as and when i felt like it and became pregnant. Now we discussed trying for number 2 it happened the first time because i was not in to all the stress of last time. Just realax and dont think about making a baby just think about making love with you partner.

Trina, if you normally have a period every other month then it seems that you only ovulate every other month. In that case, missing one period wouldn't really be a sign (unless it was the month you were supposed to get it). If you're supposed to try for another six months, then do. But don't stress about it and try to do all the charting and everything. Just be natural. Have s_x often, and hope you get pregnant. In six months, if you're still not, then the doc can help you figure out why.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I'm trying to figure out if I need to go to a Reproductive Specialist. The doctor I just saw was my OBGYN, and she's the one who told me to wait another 6 months. And she said that she thought it was just my ovulation. If that's what she thought, why wouldn't she have tried to help make it normal. I've been trying for a year and obviously don't want to wait another 6 months for nothing when I could possibly go to a reproductive specialist and see what they say. I'd like some feedback, anyone have any suggestions and anyone who might know what they would do if i went to a specialist?

I used an ovulation detection kit and they are quite cheap (1/2 price) on eBay. Make sure it is a sealed box and not expired. Clearblue is the best. You get 7 sticks in a pack. Here is some lit on how this works: -------------- The Clearblue Easy Ovulation Test quickly and accurately detects the surge of luteinizing hormone in your urine which normally occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation - when you release an egg. The Clearblue Easy Ovulation Test therefore tells you the 2 best days to conceive your baby. Clearblue Easy is the most effective ovulation kit because with 7 sticks, more women will detect their LH surge than with any 5 test kit.

I too got off the pill 4 months ago. We are trying everything to get pregnant.I am waiting for my blood test results to come back tom. I went to the dr. Friday to have that done and when I told her I was having s_x everyday she told me that having it everyday was not giving the sperm enough time to mature. She said to have it every other day. So therefore was I shooting immature sperm in me??? Also,I feel like I am pregnant but every test I take and the urine test at the drs. has come back negative. I am 14 days late. How far back does a blood test detect. How fara long do you have to be to detect it. Thanks in advance!!!!
