What Affects The Baby S Size

I have heard that diet can mean the difference between having a big baby or a small baby? What does this mean? What foods make a smaller baby, and vice versa? Are there any other factors affecting baby's size?

I've noticed that women who have a diet higher in fat and sugar have slightly larger babies than those who eat healthy most of the time. Gestational diabetes left untreated (or poorly treated) often makes for a large baby too. Smoking and drug/alcohol abuse during pregnancy USUALLY have smaller babies. There's lots of factors that may influence the size of a baby, and genetics obviously has a factor too. Hope this helps a bit! :)

Yes it helped, thank you. I don't have diabetes so far, I'm not a smoker, and I gave up alcohol during this pregnancy. HOWEVER, I can't stay away from the french fries! LOL My 2nd baby was 8 and a half pounds, and the doctor had a hard time delivering him by C-section. So I'm worried this one's gonna be even bigger. Maybe I ought to say no to Burger King more often! hee hee

sometimes genetics have to do with it, if bigger babies tend to run in your family. i gained 55-60 lbs while pregnant and my baby came out 7 lbs 10 oz, which is normal, and i had a v____al delivery.

I gained 50 pounds with my daughter and she was 6lbs 11 oz. We'll see with this one.

Well, my first one was 7 lbs 4 oz, and my 2nd was 8 and a half. I just hope this one isn't even bigger. My "little" sister weighed over 11 lbs! So I'm hoping those genes stay far away from me!! LOL

I too am curious about the size of the baby. Based on my LMP I should be 29weeks pregnant, but at my last doctors appointment (which was yesterday), my doctor said from the size of the baby, I am more like 33 weeks. What does that mean? My due date is March 23...is my due date wrong? Or do I just have a big baby?
