Hi Ladies, i am 10 weeks pregnant and just had a ultrasound due to some bad cramping. When my doctor did the scan it showed a cyst that is 6 cm diameter in my ovary so he referd me to a proper ultrasound clinic for a 2nd opinion. The scan showed the cyst is in my r___m and that i have moderate hypronephrosis in my right kidney. I am so scared right now, i have had two losses beofre this pregnancy and now this. Does anyone know anything about this condition? Will it affect the baby? is it a serious health problem. Bowel cancer runs in the family so i am worried about that but i am trying to think positive. I have a doctor appoitment late this arvo but it seem so far away, any info/imput would be great.

I don't know anything about your particular condition, but I know that surgery is really safe for the baby once you hit second trimester. They told me the loss rates were very similar to an average pregnancy. I had a large cyst on one of my ovaries at an emergency 6wk u/s I had with Max's pregnancy. I had lost three before and had started bleeding with his pregnancy too. They repeated the scan at 8wks and it was still there and still the same size. They told me if it was still there at 12wks and had not changed, they would consider removing it due to it putting pressure on too many things as my uterus got bigger with the pregnancy, but they said they may just take a wait and see approach as well. Fortunately, it had started shrinking at 12wks and was gone at 20wks. Also I had some fluid around my kidneys while I was pregnant too, but nothing ever came of it. I would think that because yours showed up as a cyst instead of a solid ma__s, it would less problematic. Cysts can usually be drained or easily removed. The only thing I think could be concerning if cysts and hypronephrosis are symptoms of another condition, but nothing I can possibly think of. Hopefully they are just two random unlreated events. Hang in there!

Hey just had a thought! I wonder if the cyst in your rectum is putting pressure on the path from the kidney to your bladder causing a back up of fluid in your kidney? Could explain the two going hand in hand.
