hi girls! incase anyone wanted to know, i had a fantastic wedding on sunday....the dress was lovely after all that drama, and everyone said it was the best wedding they have ever been too, that was a pretty col compliment...after all the money we spent! anywho.....ds just started cruising furniture yesterday, he does it very slowly, and only if he is really interested in getting something at the other end of the couch. my question is, how long after they start cruising furniture, do they start walking? ds has become a little uninterested in walking while we hold his hands, and he used to love it. so what do you all think the average is?

Congrats on your wedding Dee! How old is your ds? Can he stand steadily by himself? My dd just started cruising (and crawling) she is 11months so I thik she was a little late to start. She can stand by herself but is very wobbly and will grasp for something to hold onto once she realizes she is standing alone. I have a feeling its gonna be a while for her. Hope not though :)

well I would love to know the same thing my ds has been doing that for sometime now even taking a few steps by himself between the table and couch but he just won't walk and he is almost 14 months (on the 11th) he crawls all over he has been crawling and cruising since around 7 months old so my answer is who the heck knows when ever they make up their little minds to walk I guess they walk LOL!!! Congrats dee!! I'm glad your wedding was a success!! Rylee started cruising furniture and stuff at 6 months, started standing by herself at 9 months, and started walking at 11 1/2 months. I thought she would never walk, then one day she just got off the couch and walked across the room to her papa like it was an everyday occurrance!! Just keep watching, they'll surprise you that's for sure. :)

thx guys. ds is 7 1/2 months and we are hoping he will be walking for our honeymoon in august. he will be just over a year old. we are campervaning around new zealand and it would make life alot easier if he was walking, but if he hasent by then, then its no big deal. i was really just curious is all.

Congrats on your wedding and am happy that the dress was lovely! I remember reading about your dress fiasco. My dd is 8 months old and started crusing after 3 weeks ago within few days of her learning crawling and pulling upto a stand. She hasn't started walking YET! thank god! Hopefully it will be some time. I think by august though, your ds will be surely walking! your honeymoon sounds like fun!

My son is 10 months and started cruising in mid/late January. For the past week he has been letting go of the furniture and taking one step before falling down. He seems very determined to walk soon.

My oldest started cruising at 7 months and started walking at 13 1/2 months. This is sad, but I honestly can't even remember my other two cruising or at what age it might have happened. I know when they walked (16 months and 13 months, respsectively).

My son wouldn't walk until he was 15 months old. Don't worry, they'll get there.

Congrats on the wedding! Do you have pics??

Congrats Dee!! My dd started cruising about 9 1/2 months, and was walking at about 11 1/2 months.

Congrats Dee! Marriage is wonderful when you absolutely want it to be! Best of Luck my dear. My dd cruised for about a month. Then, she took her first steps. She then realized that she could move faster if she crawled so she crawled for another month and a half, THEN she began to really walk.

My dd started cruising at around 7 months and she is now 11 months and no walking yet she did stand alone for 30 seconds today I was so excited!! I guess they will do it when they are ready

Dee23 - the time period form when they start cruising to walking can vary tremendiously, my best friends dd started crusing and walking with a walking toy around 7 months of age and at 11 months (almost 12) she is still not intersted and walking. My dd started cruiseing furniture at the same time (7 months) and by 9 months she was taking steps and 10 months she was walking. It depends greatly on your dd and if he is motivated to walk!

Hi Dee, I just wanted to say I was going to post tonight to ask how your wedding went. I have been checking in each now and then to see if there have been any posts. I'm glad that you had a great day. That's what it is all about! Abbey has just started pulling herself up on everything as well, so I am thinking she will be early to get going, as I think the boys were later to do this ... however I have to agree with the other ladies, as Ben took his first steps at 11 months, then never took another until 6 weeks later the little monkey! Congrats again on the wedding!

Congrats on your wedding! As you can see, it varies greatly what kids can do at what age..It's really hard to predict. My son stood up by himself at 6.5 months, started cruising furniture at 8, now at 9 months, he can let go for a couple of seconds and squat down whilst holding on with one hand. I thought he would walk by himself by the time he's 10 months old, but now I'm not so sure anymore. Each in their own time, the best you can do is watch out for 'signs' of readiness, but sometimes they just do it without any 'warning'..Anyway, all the best to you!
