I discovered last night as I was getting Sarah ready for bed that she has this thing that looks like a blister on her vulva right outside of the va___al opening. She's a little fussier then normal but I don't think it's from that. I called today and the nurse said if she gets a fever, fussier, or a lacy like rash on her body that it could be hand-foot-mouth diease and also if it starts putting out a yucky yellow discharge, or just a plain fever to let them know. Just wondering if anyone elses daughter has had this and what it was and if you ended up having to do anything else.

I can't really help but today when I was taking my son to the drop in day care at the Y there was a sign up that a child had hand-foot-mouth diease, its the first time I've ever heard of it. Hows your dd now? Any changes? Anyone out there whos heard for this or what to look for?

My oldest son had it when he was around 18 months old (he's 13 now so that's been a while ago)...he's a boy so I don't really know about whether it causes blisters on the vulva. If I remember correctly it is not a lacy rash though because I thought he had measles at first. It is a spotty rash, reddots, and it's called hand-foot-maouth disease because the rash breaks out on the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet and in the mouth---it also breaks out on other parts of the body, but if I remember correctly this particular disease is unique because of the palms, soles and mouth. LisaB is right, it just has to run it's course. When I took my son to the doctor when he had first started showing the rash we had to see a fill-in as our regular pedi was on vacation. Well, she told me it was hand-foot-mouth disease. When I got home I was all upset because I was sure that doctor was crazy. I was positive that he had the measles and here she was saying my son had some disease that cows get...then dh pointed out that cows get Hoof-and-mouth disease...LOL

I found out the other day that it's actually an adhesion? where the skin has stuck to itself. We may have to use estrogen cream on it, but I won't know til June the 13th when she goes for her 6 month appointment, it's nice to know what it really is finally.
