Hi everyone. My LO is addicted the pacifier.
My 3 year old is thumb sucker so I shoved a pacifier in my LO's mouth at an early age. He will not sleep unless it is in his mouth. I am forever getting up out of bed to put it back in his mouth so he will sleep. I don't want him to be a thumb sucker but I need this paci thing to stop. By the way he is 8 weeks old. Help!

At 8 weeks, he's still pretty young. I wish the pacifier would get my son to stop crying, he doesn't like it. If it makes you feel better, research finds that babies that use the pacifier a lot have a much lower risk of getting SIDs.

8 weeks is WAAAAY too young to stop givingn them a paci if they want one. I heard you're not supposed to worry about weaning them off of it until they're like 8 or 9 months old.

What the other ladies have said is true. Younger babies have a huge sucking need. Unfortunetly by 3 months my son totally rejected the soother in favour of his thumb and I really had no say in it. It was strange because up until that time he was a big soother fan and then he gradually found his thumb and decided that it was way better. When I tried to offer him his soother he would push it out with his tongue...I couldn't even get it into his mouth.
