My son is 8 weeks old, and he is a giant kid. He is probably almost 17 lbs. I take him in on Monday, and I will know for sure then. I think that he is going through a growth spurt right now, and I am freaking out. He nurses about every 2 hours for a long time on both br___ts, the he falls asleep. I am lucky if he is awake 8 hours every day. I guess my question is, is it alright for him to be sleeping SOOO much! I am always worried that he will be awake all night from sleeping so much during the day, but he falls asleep at 9 or 10 pm, eats a couple times in the night and wakes up at 7 AM for about 2 hours. I think he will be out of 3-6 month clothes by the end of next week or so. It makes me so mad because there are things that he has never worn, and things that he has only worn once. Aaaaagh, I think I'll just stuff him in them until the seams bust, just kidding. How much did/do your 8-week-olds sleep? He is happy and alert when awake, but it is not often. Also, and this is a pretty stupid one, is it possible that he is eating too much? I doubt that it can be, but he is just such a hunka-chunk!

My ds is 9 weeks old and weighs in at 14 lbs. 4 oz. How much did your son weigh at birth? Mine was just under 8 lbs. Noah eats every 3-5 hours depending on how much formula he will take. Anywhere from 4-6 oz at a feeding. He sleeps a lot too most days. He will get up at around 8am and feed, then go back to sleep for 3-4 hours, feed again, maybe stay up a few hours, go back to sleep, eat again, etc. His feedings change daily because he isn't on a schedule or anything. I think your baby is normal at that age. The other day he was up for like 4 hours in the afternoon and that was very odd but it hasn't happened again since. I would guess Noah is only awake for 8-10 hours a day on average.
