Allergies Or A Cold Opinions Please

I noticed this week that Mason (8 months old) had a little cruddiness (new word) at the tip of his nose when he would wake up. Then yesterday he started sneezing alot. Today, in additon the the nose thing and sneezing he has a hacking cough and his nose is running clear. No fever and not really acting any differently. Just wanted others opinions as to wether this is allergies, a cold or possibly teething. He has not done this with the three teeth he does have, but our older son always had cold symptoms when he teethed. I also noticed today that he has a tooth about to pop out. Any opinions???

Not sure...Serenity has the same thing. Started with a mildly runny nose, now she's so congested that we have to give her a steam shower 3 times a day, and she has a horrible raspy cough. She also has to sit up to be ably to sleep, and screams if I lay hre down or back. My guess is allergies coupled with sinus pressure. I'm taking her to tyhe doctor on monday if it hasn't cleared up by then. I also have a sinus infection going on right now, but for me it's chronic...chronic sinus infections are how my asthma manifests. I certainly hope she doesn't have hte same thing, cause it's a huge pain in the sinus cavity. lol Hope mason starts feeling better soon.

Thanks Jamie. I have severe sinus junk too (not right now thank goodness, but often). It's about 7:30a.m. now and Mason has been crying out in his sleep about every 30 minutes since 4:00a.m. I am exhausted, my husband however sleeps right through it!! We put a cool mist humidifier in his room last night and gave him some tylenol just in case he was feeling uncomfortable. He has been the picture of health since birth so it's odd to see him like this. Hope Serenity is better too.

Is he rubbing his eyes & nose a lot?? That could be a sign of allergies bc pollen will make them very itchy. My son gets "sick" everytime he teethes so that may be the case for Mason as well. Just keep a close eye on it and if his symptoms get worse, or if they do not disappear within a week or two, I would ask his ped.

I haven't noticed him rubbing his eyes or nose. When he cries you can hear how he sounds different. I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess it's like when you are loosing your voice or something??? Weird.

I know exactly what you mean...it's a more pitiful cry, almost like a lost puppy - or at least Serenity's is.
