Anyone With Endometriosis

I have endometriosis and I am in horrible pain. I was just wondering what your Dr.'s have done for it if it has worked? I have had the "clean out" surgery and I was on bc pills but I didn't like them or the patch so right now I am not on anything. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

My sister has it and she will be going for her third surgery in a couple of months. The dr say this is her only chance for a baby and if she can't concieve they might have to give her a hysterectomy. SHe says she loads up on Advil and Mydol.

I know the feeling...I take so much motrin it's not even funny. I hear you have to have the clean out surgery about every two years. Not that it was bad but I don't want to have surgery every two years.

How many children do you have? I have heard that sometimes having babies will cure it.

I have it very bad - I've had like 5 lap's but since my last son was born Dec. 06 it hasn't been as bad as it was before. My dr. did the b/c, surgery, pain meds, but one of the most effective things they did was the lupron shots. I got one every month for 6 months (it would put me into menapause (sp). That seemed to help at the time but I can tell that the longer I have periods, the worse they are getting but it is strange it is every other month that things are really bad, and its on my left side that the pain is horrible. But anyway, the b/c pills worked pretty good where i took them non-stop with no period and that was several years ago that I did that. Good luck to you, I know how bad it can be. I literally would have 3 weeks of pure pain before they really got it under control. The week b-4, during and after my period were horrible and s_x was sometimes so out of the question because of the pain. Maybe check out the shots!! Good luck!

My sister has it and the only thing that helps is the bc pill which she has pretty hard time with if she forgets it and takes it a few hours late shes puking but it helps the endo so its a catch 22.

I have two children and I never had this pain until after my first. I always had really bad periods but this pain is different. Before I pregnant with my first I saw several different Dr.'s and the lupron was recommened but at the time I was trying to get pregnant so I didn't want to go that route. I have tried the continuous bc pills and the patch but that approaced never worked for me. When I am on bc pills or the patch I have horrible breat tenderness. If I knew for sure I was done having kids I might take more drastic measures but I really feel in my heart I want one more. I swear if men had to endure this there would be a lot more research done to fix this. It really sucks and people just don't get it!! It really feels like my left ovary is gonna burst. I think mine skips months too and it always on my left side that it hurts the most. I think maybe it has something to do with ovulating too because it skips months. I also have it for three weeks a month. The week before during and after my period. This month seems to be going longer though. I am afraid I am damaging my liver my taking so much motrin. I take at least 4 a day, sometimes more sometimes less, depending on the pain. I have also noticed that if I keep the motrin in me the pain is less than if I wait unti it hurts and then take it. It even wakes me up in the middle of the night/early morning. Oh jeez, I'm rambling. Sorry. Thanks for listening and for the comments. It's nice to know I am not alone although I hate for others to feel this pain.

I have been plagued for years with endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrom.. I had the surgery in 2000 and my pain seemed to be worse, so I would not do it again.. the cysts were worse.. I dont really know which one cause such severe pain and the irregular overbleeding.. The docs said I would probably never have a child.. Therefore I never had to use bc.. Low and behold I got pregnant.. I had my ds on 3/06.. I have to say I rarely get the pain anymore.. every so often I will get light to medium pain maybe every month and a half.. I hope and pray I dont get as bad as before.. I hope for all of you too.. It is not easy having to live with pain ..

My mom had endometriosis so severely at age 18 she begged them to do an exploratory surgery. They kept sending her to shrinks because they said it was all in her head. When she convinced them finally to look, they found damage so severe that it had already destroyed one ovary completely. My brother and I are lucky to be here, considering she had multiple miscarriages and almost miscarried me. I have a friend with it as well and the only way she could have a pregnancy last was the clean out surgery first then try. Have you talked to your doctor about the new generation of bc pills? They have different ingredients with fewer side effects (Yaz and Loestrin are two examples) so maybe that would resolve your b___st tenderness. I know that the bc is the single best way to stave off the growth from escelarating. My mom ended up with a hysterectomy at 33. It really depends on your reproductive desires for the future. Good luck, I hope you find a solution so you aren't so miserable.
