Baby Not Sleeping

How much should a ten week old sleep? My ds averages about twelve hours of sleep per day. I feel like he should be getting more sleep, but he won't. He seems happy and is healthy. How much did your lo sleep at that age?

I am not sure what the exact numbers are and there is a wide range of normal.. at that age my lo was sleeping about 12 hours at night and anywhere from 2-4 hours during the day. keep in mind that most babies avoid sleep and you sort of have to teach them to sleep and put them down for naps at regular times.. when you start doing this they will get tired at roughly the same time everyday.

At 10 weeks my LO was sleeping 16+ hrs per day...but not really any big stretches, all scattered naps and maybe an 8 hr stretch at night

Good question. My LO is 11 weeks and she used to sleep about 17 hours per day with regular naps at roughly the same times. Naps would last 1.5 to 2 hours. Just this week, she started going down for her naps, then she wakes after 30 mins and just lays there smiling for an hour. I wonder if the 3 month mark has something to do with it. her activity time still remains low, like 30 mins for feeding and one hour for activity.

I am so glad you posted this question because my ds only sleeps that much a day as well and is 8 weeks old. During the day he is a cat napper only about 20 minutes at a time.
