Ok, my daughter is 6.5 mos. 17.5 lbs and 27 in long. Dr said she is too long for most infant carriers. Sure enough, I checked and she is too long for my peg perego infant carrier. So now I am in the market for a car seat. I want it to be the last one I have to buy. So I am looking at a convertable. I have an Eddie Bauer Convertable, that I bought used, but we cant get it to fit secure rear facing. So now, I gotta go shopping. Do you like your car seat ? Why or why not ??? Thanks!

Put a swim noodle underneath the carseat to help it be positioned better for your child to recline in. I did this with my similar car seat. Oh it is completely safe to do this . The manufactors of car seats say so. If you don't have a noodle, use a rolled up towel. Don't go out to buy another car seat the one you have will surfise. Hope this helps. You can always go to the firestation to make sure it is installed correctly they do it for free. I have heard others say this I am in canada not the states.

I have the Cosco Omega Elite Convertible Carseat (I got it from Babies-r-us.. it was about $170). I love it! It's very sturdy.. it doesn't even wiggle an inch (even whilst rear-facing). My son loves it too.. it seems very comfortable. It was very easy to install.. and the straps adjust from the front (so you don't have to unbuckle the carseat to adjust the straps everytime your LO grows.. or wears a jacket.. lol).. oh, and it even has arms rests (you can put them up) and a cup holder (that you can detach!

I got a Radian car seat made by Sunshine Kids. It is a newer car seat, but it is supposed to be one of the best on the market because it is the only car seat that has a steel alloy frame, not plastic. The other thing I like about it is that it is the only car seat that folds flat so when it comes time to store it, or if we need to bring it somewhere, it is much smaller. It is a little heavy (due to the steel frame), but so far it has been great. It is also narrower than most car seats, and I have seen photos of cars with three of them in the back seat. Also, when rear facing, you can tether it to the front seat for a little extra safety. My only problem is that we had to put it in the middle of the back seat (rear facing) because it hit the front seat (we have a Ford Focus). It goes up to 65 lbs in the states (48lbs in Canada) and it was very reasonably priced. If you want to check it out, visit w w w.

Deb, I checked out that car seat and it looks great. Do you mind me asking how much it was?

Has the radian been tested by consumer reports?

i looked them up and the going rate seems to be about $200. i'm interested because i am SO tired of carrying the infant carrier around.

hey- my friend is a car seat installer for the state and she recommended the Cosco Scenera for me. It's one of the smaller models, so supposedly it'll fit better inside my car (I have a sub-compact). It was also really cheap, less than $40 at WalMart. I haven't installed it yet (trying to milk the infant carrier), so I can't say for sure, but that's the one that got recommended to me if you need a smaller model.

We purchases the Britax boulevard for our tiny 12 month old, we still have her rear facing in the center of our backseat. It is difficult to get her in and out but at her 1 year appt. she was 18 lbs so she still needs to be rear facing. We researched forever and read that the Britax marathon is also very good and they crash test their car seats a a higher speed than the goverement recommends and we found ours online at allbee baby at a better price than babies r us had them listed for.
