My dd is 7.5 mos old and I have to plan to buy another car seat within 2-3 months. She now has a infant car seat. Which do you girls think is best? A convertible seat or a forward facing seat with booster seat combo? I dont have idea about the both and have not started my research still. She is only about 17 pounds now and I think we have to change her seat only once she reaches a year old. Please share your thoughts. Thanks

In Canada (and I'm sure its the same in the States) forward-facing car seats are only allowed when your lo is 20lbs AND 1 year old. I know there is a new rule that just came out here that they can only change to a booster seat when they are 45lbs (if my sources are correct). I think your best option right now would be to go with the convertible car seat. More bang for your buck. The convertible can change from rear-facing to forward-facing.

priya-we have the evenflo triumph convertible carseat. It is great and can change to forward facing at 12 months and they can stay in it for quite some time! it's gotten a lot of good reviews with both consumer reports and with babies r us shoppers. I got the Sandbox "color" I guess. It looks way better in person than in the pic and is gender neutral. Good luck!

most infant carseats dont go by weight, but by height. look on your carseat most babies have to be out by 26 or 27 inches. it can be dangerous if they are taller then that as they arent protected. i got a convertable car seat they are more practical as u can turn them forward at 1 year. dd has been in it since 6 months
