Daylight Savings Time NO GOOD

I don't know how this is going to work! My plan was to start keeping my 9 month old dd up just a little later over the next few days so that she can adjust to the time change this weekend. Well, it was 9:02, literally two minutes past her normal naptime and she was screaming and rubbing her eyes! UGH! I have no idea how this is going to work out! Her normal bedtime is 6pm and she sleeps til 6:30-7am...Anyone have any ideas how to make this easier!? I was thinking of taking her out somewhere (grocery store etc...) this weekend to keep her really stimulated and then trying to make her naps 20-30 minutes later?!?! If that doesnt' work, then we're screwed.

Isn't dayllight savings time not until spring? I never know when it is, but I know the saying is "Spring back, Fall forward.." and we changed the time back just a couple months ago. Let me know if it's this weekend!

Ooops, I had the saying backward. Still, I could've sworn we already changed the clocks.. but I guess not!

its spring forward...fall back...and it was supposed to be last weekend...but they moved it to this weekend...I have no idea how else to adjust for the time change...ur plan sounds good....

I think we're just going to plan on ds going to bed an hour earlier (since he definitely seems to go to sleep and wake based on natural light cycles), and maybe doing a dream feed at around 10:30pm. Hopefully he'll sleep through the rest of the night. He normally sleeps from about 7:30pm to 7am or so...

This is how it works in Canada & USA: 1hr back on the 2nd Sunday of Mar; 1hr ahead on the 1st Sun of Nov. I have no idea how were going to do it with Caden...and to make matters worse we are going away this Sat.

DB - November 2

Gosh...this is awful...Audrey's on her second nap of the day at 12:20!! We are sooo screwed. Her second nap is usually at 2pm! I have a feeling she's going to want to go to bed at 4pm now!! And wake at 4am. Gosh...I wish we didn't have to change the clocks!

docbytch - November 2

Actually it's one hour forward on the second sunday of march and one hour back on the first sunday of november. they changed it after keeping it 6mos on and 6 mos off for so long. Kinda irritates me

i normally love this time of year as you FALL back 1 hr and that means 1 more hour of sleep...... but not when you become a mom! I have been wondering the same thing the last day or 2 deciding what to do with my son. He is like clock work a nap everyday at 10 and 2:30 or 3pm and bed around 7:30-8pm and he only sleeps 11 hrs max at bed! ahhh how to get him switched over in a day?????

Ours went back last weekend - in the UK - We did try keeping Aiden up later - but he still went 'ping' at 6am the next morning.... ugghh...but we did then manage to delay all mealtimes/snacks then naps - it seemed to be more dependant on when he fed than when he napped...but he flaked very quickly each night...And I did have a couple more early starts this week - but I just refused to get out of bed - he came in with me and we lay quietly in the dark until it was time to go.....

wailing - November 3

Oh, wow. I never even thought about how this was going to effect naps and bedtimes!!. Weird thing, lo has been napping soo much longer lately. My mom thought it had to do w/ the time change also. Hmmm. I think, I'm going to try and get him to stay up later. Maybe bath???

c_baer19 - November 3

This actually will work out great for me - my LO doesn't go to bed until 9-9:30, and I wouldn't mind at all if her bedtime moved up an hour! We'll see how it goes..

I hate daylight savings. It was invented so farmers in the olden days could have more light in the morning, but most of us aren't farmers anymore, and would probably rather have light in the evenings! Plus it's not easy getting a baby to convert to a time change. We kept Tyler up 30 minutes later tonight, and will do another 30 minutes tomorrow, and hopefully everything else will fall into place within a few days.

DB - November 4

Everything about this time change has sucked. SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED. It sucks! Can you tell it's been a rough weekend! AHHH!!!!!!!!

Mrs.Ireland - November 5

I agree, it does suck. My dd wants to go to bed at 7:30 or 8 and then bam, she is up like clock work at 5 thinking it's 6. uggghhh... she's not a good sleeper anyway and now this.

excited2bemama - November 5

COunt me in.... dd isn't doing well with the time change either.. she went to bed last last at 5:15 pm instead of the usualy 6-6:30- and she woke up to nurse at 3:45 instead of the usual 5-5:30 am... :o(

lin7604 - November 5

yup, i'm so with ya! my ds isn't doing well either. He normally wakes after 7am or around it anyway and today it was 5:50am! The last few weeks he has been sleeping in to closer to 8am but not now. he has a hard time staying awake longer, so i end up putting him down at his normal times ( every 3 hrs) but then bed is like 6pm!!!! He will only sleep 11 hrs at night max so that doesn't work out either !!! ahhh....
