Dr Brown Bottle Nipple Question

I use Dr. Brown bottles and I love them. My LO is 3 months old and is still on level one nipple. When should I move on to number 2? It takes him a long time to suck down a 5oz bottle.

I had the same questions a few months back. I, too, use Dr. Brown's... I started using the level 2 nipples once my DS looked like he was straining to suck down the formula, but mostly when he started to get p__sed off that he wasn't getting it fast enough! If you think he's ready, try it. But just watch carefully that he doesn't choke. Obviously, if he does, he's not ready.

Aloha~ I also use dr brown bottles. My son is three months two weeks and I started him on level two about a week before he turned three months. He didn't show any real signs of being frusterated...but it would take him AGES to finish a bottle. And I truly believe that my b___st milk came out faster then level one nipples so when I switched to leve two he didn't have a problem at all. So anyway he is three and a half months....but I started him a little before three months and he did great!

If it is taking your little one a long time to eat, then it is time to switch.

My 3 mo. dd actually just started refusing the bottle, and we think it may be due to frustration at not getting milk fast enough. I would switch right away because the next size up in other brands 'medium flow' says 'for ages 3-6 months'.

My lo is 5.5 months and we love the Dr. Browns bottles too. But, I don't use them often b/c I b'feed. I asked our pedi and she said it was really uneccessary to change nipples so I haven't done it yet.
