Dreaming About Death

For the past 2-3 nights, my husband has woken me up telling me that Im crying hysterically. I seem to be having a reoccuring dream that I go to the doctor and he tells me that I have an advanced stage of cancer in my mouth, which has likely spread to my brain, and that I wont have long to live. In my dream I cry and cry and cry, because I dont want to leave my daughter. When I wake up, Im perfectly fine. No crying, no tears, not even remotely upset. Im confused as to why Im having these dreams... I have an almost 8 month old, Im in good health, but recently did have a miscarriage at 7 weeks (which I didnt think I was upset about). Does anyone else have dreams about death? Please tell me Im not alone...

I'm sorry to hear that you had a m/c. I also had one before my son was born. It could be that you're upset about it unconsciously, even though you don't think you are. I've always had strange dreams but even more so since I'm pregnant again. Some of them really upset me! Anyway sorry I'm not much help! Hope they get better for you!

i dream about really morbid things all of the time and i have always been a very vivid dreamer. my theory is that it could mean a number of things, one is anxieties about the miscarriage, or just about the idea of your lo being so entirely dependent on you... being a mom is a lot of responsibility. i am making some changes in my lifestyle now for my baby because i look at the sweet innocent little thing and cant imagine her growing up without a mommy. another theory is that things in dreams usually represent something else from the subconscious, and dreaming about cancer is thought to denote grief and represent areas of your life which are currently bothering you. what else can you recall about the dream, a certain person, place, etc?? also watch wwhat you intake before bed -- medications, certain foods, alcohol, nicotine patches, melatonin (holistic sleep aid) and actually vitamin b supplements have been known to cause weird dreams. i know i always have nightmares when i have pizza before bed. weird i know but its a fact. good luck, i hope your nightmares go away. :o)

Oh hunny. I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Are you ok? I dream about death all the time. Except usually mine is very violent. I am getting chased, attacked, or killed in some other violent way. I have been told it is just our bodies way of dealing with insecurities and stress!

Also, I agree with what venus said about the scary thought of our kids growing up without a mom. I am terrified of this although I am completely healthy. I update his baby book and sticker calendar every night, make sure I take plenty of pictures and keep a blog of how I am feeling. I also keep our family tree in line and records of everything. If anything does happen to me I want him to know as much about me as possible! I think that is just a weird ocd thing of mine though! lol.

First, I want to say sorry about your MC. I'm sure this is just a myth, but my mom always told me that when you dream about death it means long life. My family is VERY superst_tious, so we are always looking in to things a trying to anylize them. I agree with Venus about eating right before bed. Whenever I eat late before bed I have strange dreams. Hope you have happy dreams tonight :-)

FIrst I must say sorry about your mc. Whether you thought it effected you or not, it propably did on some level. I had one at ten weeks and I was outwardly depressed for weeks. Next I agree with drea, in that sometime sdeath dreams like that sometimes are believed to singify long life or new life. If you believe in those things. Also venus brought up some good points that are little more scentific. It jsut depends on which way you go. I tend to be more scentific but there is that part of me that is just a bit supertistious......at any rate, I hope your dreams get better.

Hmmm... Ive been taking my vitamins/B12 before bed... Im wondering if thats whats causing the wonky dreams. I hardly slept last night, I was so afraid of crying in my sleep and waking up the baby (hubby was at work.).. I hope these dreams end soon!

I dont know what is causing your dreams about death, some people seem to think to dream of death means you will hear of a pregnancy, other people have said to dream of death could mean you are going to hear from someone you have not heard from for a long time. That is just what i have heard, wether either of them is correct i dont know.

maybe try taking the b-12 in the morning or afternoon? that could be contributing to your wacky dreams!
