Drugs And Baby Thoughts

Hello All! I posted 2 months back that my DD had a chest cold - well - she still does. I guess the new practice for pediatricians is to withhold drugs until absolutely necessary - due to the new "superbug" and that children under 5 don't respond well to cold meds, etc. Anyway - since it has been so long - now she wants me to do a 4 day course of prednisolone (steroid) and 7 days of amoxicillin. DD is 8 months old, we have been using a nebulizer all this time as well. Have any of you had to administer a steroid to your child? Any side effects? I read up on it on the internet - but I would hope exposure for 4 days wouldn't due much damage. What are your thoughts?

Hi. I work in healthcare. There should not be any real side effects from short term use of steroids. It's when steroids have to be taken chronically that you tend to see side effects. what have you put in your nebulizer? albuterol? Many asthmatics take steroids long term for treatment and do just fine also. I would not worry too much....

My daughter had a reaction from her shots and got a two day prec for an oral steroid and had no symptoms. She has also been pres a topical steroid for her face before and was fine, just make sure its not chronically like doc mentioned.
