How Is Your 5 Month Old Napping

Josephine always took short naps but these past few months she has REALLY gotten into a routine. She takes 4 30-45 min. naps a day and goes to sleep for good at 9:30. I've tried everything to get her to nap longer but she won't, I've tried getting her to go back to sleep when she wakes up after 30-45 min. but she never does and if she does it's for kuje 5 min. She is officially a cat-napper! But it works for us because she doesn't seem to be bothered by it. She doesn't wake up cranky or get mad because she's still tired. Does anyone know how many hours of daytime sleep they're supposed to get at this age? I'm sure she's not getting what she's supposed to!

According to BabyCenter: A 3 month old needs 10hrs night time sleep & 5hrs daytime sleep. A 6 month old needs 11 hrs night time sleep & 3.25hrs daytime sleep. A 9 month old needs 11hrs night time sleep & 3 hrs daytime sleep. A 12 month old needs 11.25hrs night time sleep & 2.5hrs daytime sleep. Hope that helps.

Thanks! She's about to be 5.5 months so I'll go by the 6 month stats. If she was to take 4 45 min. naps that'd be 3 hours of daytime sleep sooo she's not too too off! That's good to know! Today though she's taken 3 30 min. naps! Oh well, close enough! haha thank you for the info though, that's really helpful. She gets 11 hours or more of nighttime sleep so she's doing good there!

My 5 month old takes cat naps also. She started this at about 4 months. You're lucky my baby sleeps only 25-30 minutes. She normally stays up for about 2 hours at at time. I really don't count how many naps she takes a day. I can say the longer she stays woke the longer she will sleep. She is very active. I can say that. More active than the babies in my family, that's her age. So I think she tires out very easily. She usually goes to sleep around 9 and wakes up at 7. I hope this helps!

Yeah I'm just wondering how everyone's little ones are napping and to see if anyone else has a cat-napper! She goes to sleep around 9:30 and wake up anywhere from 5:30-8 for her first bottle and will go to sleep RIGHT away afterwards and sleep for another 4 hours then she gets up but she's ready for her first nap almost exactly an hour after waking up, it's so strange!

my lo is 5.5 months as well. He goes to sleep around 9 pm. and wakes around 6 ish for a feeding and then goes back to sleep until 8:30 ish. Exactly one hour after waking up he needs a nap. But that nap is only 30 min, He then takes another 30 min nap 12 pm. At around 2:30ish he will take a 45 min nap (unless I am sleepy too then he will take a nap with mommy for 1 1/2) Then around 7 ish he takes another 30 min nap. So My lo takes 4 I guess cat naps a day too. For awhile I tried keeping him up longer in the morning to see if I can combine the two morning naps, so I tried keeping him up until 11, but all that did was give me a grumpy baby, and he only slept for 45 min. So I went back to the two 30 min

My son who's 5 months old, takes a nap at 9:30, 1 for 1.5hrs and a 45 min nap at 4:30 and then goes to sleep at 7. I dream feed at 11 and he wakes between 5-7 to eat and goes back to sleep ubtil 8.

I am glad to see this post. My DS is 2 months old and is a cat napper as well. I have started to come to grips with this fact now. I was worried as well about whether or not he was getting enough sleep. After reading this post he is just like a few here. He goes down at 9:30pm and I dream feed around 10:30 or 11:00 and he is up at 4:30am for a feed and back down until 6:30 or 7:00am for another feed and then back down unitl 9:30am. And like other about an hour after that he is down for about 30min-45min and then follows a cat nap pattern for the rest of the day. I am glad to see that other babies are like this too!

Avelyn sleeps every 2 - 3 hours, sometimes for 30 minutes, sometimes 2.5 hours haha. Mostly the 30 minute ones though. And she goes down for bed between 7 and 8pm.

Our almost 6 month old has always been a cat napper, but I feel like it might be getting worse. I too am worried that he isn't getting enough sleep, because yes, he does get grumpy during the day. Sometimes I will spend 40 minutes to get him to take a nap for 30 minutes. I don't know what else to do, but it's be great for a longer nap!!! He does go to bed at 7:30 and gets up at 7:30 with eating twice in between. We just started cereal, so hopefully that helps :0 Anyone with suggestions to help me get him to nap more would be great!!
