Hi all! My dd starts solids in a few weeks, and I want to make my own baby food. Any suggestions on how I would do this? Or can anyone recommend a good book or website on the subject? Thanks for any replies.

Hi maggie! My little one hasn't arrived yet, but I love perusing this website: http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com (take out any dashes that appear). It's great - all kinds of recipe ideas and all the basics about making and storing. Have fun!

That is a great website. I tried the making baby food thing, it was just too time consuming for me (and expensive too), but good luck hope it works out for you.

Maggie, you may want to just start out with rice cereal as this is the most gentle on there lil tummies. Then I usually introduce apples followed by pears......again easy on their tummies, and easy on there mouths. In the first few weeks I found using baby food out of jars the easiest.......as it is exactly the right texture. I started making my own vegies etc when my little ones had been on solids for about 6 weeks.......I started out with Carrots, pumpkin, potatoes......this are the easiest on there tummies, and easy to puree. Never give cauliflour until they are 12 months, as this can give them a huge tummy ache...also watch beans, peas and corn, as the skins can create havoc.
