ok so i hung her in her usual spot in the doorway in her Jollyjumper whilst i had a bath (i usually have a shower, but nothing else was different) anyways, all of a sudden she stopped bouncing and looked at me like she had never seen me in her life! she must have stood there completely frozen for about 4 or 5 minutes i swear and her face didnt move, even when i was talking to her and trying to make her laugh? then she just started to cry and it was a cry id never heard before, a real 'drop the lip and wail' type one! so i got her out and bought her in the bath with me and she was still looking at me like i was some kind of alien....then she went all shy and was grinning at me out of the corner of her eye! what a strange thing to do???? got me stumped! she returned to normal after that but wow it was eerie. I had to get up and look in the mirror to make sure i hadnt warped into some kind of monster :)

LOL...this made me laugh. It was probably simply the fact that you were tub bathing instead of the shower she is used to seeing you take. Mason was like that the first time I took him to the bathroom with me in his exersaucer while I took a shower. We have a clear shower curtain so I could see him and was talking to him, but he was in no mood for talking and jokes...then he started bawling. I thought maybe the curtain was making me look a little distorted so I pooped my head out (which was all shampoo-ey....bad idea in hindsight) and he wailed even louder. It took about 2-3 days before he got accustomed to the whole shower thing. I think new things just freak them out...they are like, "hey, that's not right!" Too funny!

"popped my head out" not pooped...lol. That wouldn't be so bad if it weren't a bathroom story now would it? I am going TO BED!

I don't want to scare you but a friend of mines daughter has a super mild form of epilepsy that causes her to "freeze" or go into a trance for a few seconds to a few minutes. You probably just freaked her out, but if you ever see her do it again, check with your ped. As for my friends little girl, she had done it forever, but wasn't diagnosed until she was in school and froze there for several seconds. Now she takes super-low doses of an anti-seizure drug and is fine.

No Kara, the seizures you describe are called absence seizures (pet_t mal) but absence seizures don't last that long. They are usually 10-20 seconds long but may happen dozens of times a day. So I really don't think think what she is describing is an epileptic seizure. (I worked at an epilepsy foundation for a long time).
