My Baby Has Blue Eyes For How Long

Hi all - Was just wondering how long it takes for my baby's eyes to settle and be their true color? Dh and I both have brown eyes. His mom has green eyes and my grandfather has blue eyes. Our son was born with bright blue eyes. He is just about two months old and they seem to have gotten brighter. Maybe I'm hoping they stay blue but what has been your experience? Thanks! ~Tanya

I am in a similar boat, my dd is 5 months and was born w/ electric blue eyes, and they are still blue. According to my dr. they should settle at around 6 months, I am really starting to think they will be blue, some mom's on here said they had baby's whose eyes changed later, my MIL said my one BIL's eyes changed from brown to blue in a day. I mean there is a 1 in 4 chance they will stay that way, I hope they do.

most caucasian babies are born with blue eyes. Abby was born with bright blue eyes and at her 6 month appointment the doctor said that's the way they'll probably stay. Her eyes are the exact same color as mine. Many people find that their baby's eyes change color right around that 6 month mark.

Gretchen was born w/ dark greyblue eyes, and they've lightened up a bit, still greyblue, though. She's 6 1/2 months. But I've heard they can change up to 9months-year.

I have read that most white babies are born with blue eyes and by 6 mos they are teh color they will stay. Not sure about the color of any other ethic group.

I have been meaning to ask this question so I am so glad you did. My ds was born with blue eyes. He is 11 weeks old and they seem to be getting darker. When will they stay the color they are going to stay?

My kids all started out with blue-gray, went through varying degrees of hazel/green and ended up brown. My dd held on to her green eyes the longest... until about 9 months, the boys turned by 4 months (ish). I could pretty much tell they were going to end up brown, though, because the rims were dark and when I looked at their eyes from a side view they looked dark. I have brown eyes and dh has blue. Justin was dh's last chance at a blue-eyed baby, but it wasn't in the cards! I had to tip the scale in our favor, though... out of his parents' 12 grandkids we have the only brown-eyed ones. (His whole family all has blue eyes and his other sibs married blue-eyed people, so they all have blue-eyed kids).
