Hi,
I am wondering if you ever took your baby rectal temperature and what it was.... My 9 weeks old daughter's a bit elevated (between 98.5 to 99.9).
Thanks

My ped said with rectal temps they run alittle higher and it is not a "temp" (something to take note of) unless its 100.4 or higher. Every docotr is different and you know your baby best but 98.5-99.9 sounds normal to me.

DD always runs around 99.5-99.8 rectally so I don't think you need to worry.

Something else to take note of is that enviromental factors, such as a very hot day, as well as baby being dressed very warmly can have a bearing on temperature readings. Also, evening temperature readings tend to be higher than morning ones. As LisaB said, doctors are different, as my dr. has said anything over 100 in a baby under 3 months to bring baby in to be checked.

My ped says 99.6 is normal for a rectal temp. (Same as 98.6 for oral or armpit)
