Hi ladies I am trying to figure out what signs lo may express if they are getting an ear infection, he does not have a fever but he is pulling on his ears, the doctor said wait to see if he gets a fever. He has been fussy lately but I associated that to him teething. Also next wed were are flying out to TX so I really don't want to take him on a plane while he's teething. Thanks for any help.

Being fussy and tugging on his ears are both signs it could be an infection. Ear infection are common in infants because thier milk can drain into thier ear if they are not sitting up enough when they eat. Also if they have had a cold sometimes they can get an ear infection from all the drainage from thier cold. I would have him seen just to be safe and because you are going on a trip.

RLWilcox, my 4 mth old was pulling on his right ear continuously for 2 days, I took him into the dr. right away -- he had an ENORMOUS build up of wax! The dr cleaned in out, my ds is a happy camper again. I would definitely take your lo into the dr before the flight -- the air pressure change could potentially make matters a lot worse.

My ds is 8 1/2 months and has had 3 ear infections within the last 2 months. He wasn't really crabby and didn't have a fever. He had a runny nose. I thought it was teething...Then, I thought it was a cold. I took him in and sure enough he had an ear infection. I would definately take him. If they won't see him b/c he doesn't have a fever.....Fib a little and say he has one.....but I would have him checked out.....those things are sneaky and sometimes hard to get rid of.
