Okay.. my little man is such a pig!! he is still bf, and eats solids two or three times a day...but everytime he sees me eating, he wants my food! i mean, he lunges after it, pulls on my plate, grabs my fork...you name it. he even moves his mouth like he's chewing (so cute btw!). my question is, what kind of "snacks" do you think i should give him? i want something he can feed himself (so my hands are free when i'm trying to eat!). he has two teeth on the bottom. the fruit puff things say they are ready when they can crawl with their bellies off the ground, and can mush food between their gums. he's almost got the crawling thing down, but i don't know about the food thing, because i haven't tried anything yet. would bananas be good to start with? i remember dd loved them, but i think she was about 8 months. oh.. and to make it even harder, my mom is watching him 8 hours a day since i just went back to work (i come home at lunch to nurse him, and i pump) and she is paranoid...i mean PARANOID of kids choking. my brother is 12 and she still doesn't let him eat popcorn!! so what's something she might be comfortable giving him? do you think a simple sippy cup with water or juice (dr says half water, half juice is ok now) might calm his cravings (if that's what they are?) thanks ladies!!!

My Carlie is such a little eater! She does the same thing. Lunges toward my plate. If you bring anything to your mouth, she watches and opens her mouth! She'll wrestle you for a pepsi can! How does she know what's in there???? Anyway, I give her graham crackers, and club crackers. Both just melt so she doesn't choke. Maybe you could try those....

The fruit puffs were too big for my lo. I used to cut cheerios in half and that seemed to work...I don't think the puffs dissove that fast. I like the cracker like CyndiG too.

great idea!!! graham crackers are ok as long as they aren't the honey ones, right? i think i'll pick some up tonight. and they're big enough that he won't struggle to get them in his mouth.

I get the honey ones. I think the honey thing is just "raw" honey. Am I wrong? Hope not! BTW, it's night for me now? Where are you??

luviduvi..the cheerios are a great idea too! i wonder how good he'd be at picking them up? i don't remember how old rylee was when i started her on spaghetti-o's (with the sauce washed off), but i'll bet he'd like them soon.

i don't know about the honey thing... i just figured it's better to stay away from it. but my mil did always give my dd honey nut cheerios and she's fine, so i'm sure it is just raw honey. it's about 9 pm here... i'm in colorado. (i say i'll get them tonight because i have to pick my sis up from work in an hour)

To answer the question about honey, I asked my doc and he said it's just the honey alone. You can give your lo stuff w/ honey he said, like the bread I give my son has honey in it and he said stuff like that is fine
